Scott Bakula has broken down what a 2020 reboot of the popular show, Quantum Leap, would look like, particularly in today's modern climate. Acknowledging that he knows fans would love to see the show rebooted, Bakula noted how several things are going wrong right now that the show could address.

On The Talk, Bakula said, "I don't know... I know the fans would love to have a reboot. There are so many things going on right now that need to be put right, that are currently going wrong." He added that Beckett "would be very, very busy. Lots to do."

Created by Donald P. Bellisario, Quantum Leap originally aired on NBC between 1989-1993. The show starred Bakula as quantum physicist Sam Beckett leaping through time, righting historical wrongs in his efforts to return home. Each episode followed him as he "leaped" into a different person. In order to make the next leap, he had to fix something that went wrong in the past. Accompanying Beckett on his adventures is U.S. Navy rear admiral Al Calavicci (Stockwell), who appeared as a hologram, only visible and audible to Beckett.

The final episode, "Mirror Image," saw Sam alter history so Al and his wife Beth stay together. It also revealed he had finally learned how to control his leaps. Despite this newfound understanding, the final scene of the series indicated that Beckett sadly never returned home, though alternate endings were said to have been filmed.
