Warner Bros. has released the first teaser trailer for Scoob!, revealing the origin story of how Scooby-Doo and Shaggy became best friends.
The trailer also shows how the duo meet fellow detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc.
After a brief introduction by Scooby-Doo and Shaggy inside a movie theater, the trailer opens on a young Shaggy eating his lunch on a beach. When Scooby walks up, Shaggy offers the little pup half of his sandwich, thereby forming an inseparable bond.
Next, an officer walks up claiming Scooby to be a stray dog. The quick-thinking Shaggy is able to come up with Scooby-Doo's name right on the spot, sparing the doggie detective a trip to the local pound. Later, Scooby and Shaggy come across their Mystery, Inc. members Fred, Velma and Daphne while they're all out for Halloween. A trip to one haunted house leads the gang to their greatest mystery, and their abduction by aliens.
Scoob! is directed by Tony Cervone and written by Kelly Fremon Craig from a story by Matt Lieberman. Cervone is certainly familiar with the material, having produced and directed multiple Scooby-Doo projects in the past including Scooby-Doo! And Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery.
Scoob! stars the voices of Frank Welker, Zac Efron, Gina Rodriguez, Will Forte, Amanda Seyfried, Tracy Morgan, Ken Jeong, Kiersey Clemons, Mark Wahlberg and Jason Isaacs. The film arrives in theaters May 15, 2020.
