WARNING: The following contains spoilers for WandaVision Episode 9, "The Series Finale," now streaming on Disney+.

The WandaVision finale sets up a lot of elements that will undoubtedly pay off in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. An example can be found after the credits roll, when Wanda Maximoff is studying witchcraft with the Darkhold, Marvel's book of the damned. The scene's significance ties directly into her involvement in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the limitless potential of her chaos magic, and ability to venture into the multiverse as a nexus being.

When Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) fully embraced the mantle of the Scarlet Witch, she tapped into a well of power that propelled her far beyond any other magic user that came before her. As Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) tells Wanda of the prophecy she is doomed to fulfill, she adds that her powers surpass even those of the Sorcerer Supreme. That power is later teased during her studies of the Darkhold. While she is flipping through the book in the Astral Plane, her physical body is seen functioning normally. When Doctor Strange accessed his astral form, his body was rendered unconscious. But if Wanda is stronger than Stephen Strange, that means her abilities could rival some of MCU's most powerful heroes.

Scarlet Witch Is More Dangerous Than Hulk

Mark Ruffalo's Hulk screaming in the MCU

Wanda has suffered enough loss caused by others in her life to render her mind an emotional minefield. That also makes her incredibly dangerous due to her powers being tied so closely with her emotions. Another hero whose powers are tied to their emotions is the Incredible Hulk. Bruce Banner has only ever changed when he felt stress or rage. Typically that would yield destructive results and force Banner to live a nomadic life to spare innocents from his dangerous alter ego.

While the Hulk's anger has been known to devastate a helicarrier or a city block, Wanda's powers devastate reality itself. When she couldn't contain the pain of losing Vision, she emitted huge amounts of energy from her body and created the Hex anomaly. It reformatted an entire town and controlled its inhabitants, subjecting them to her pain. It was also unpredictable and subject to alter whenever Wanda felt anger or stress of any sort. When it comes to threat levels, the Hulk may be high on the list, but Wanda tops it.

Scarlet Witch Is More Powerful Than Captain Marvel

In terms of sheer power, the first truly god-like hero in the MCU was Chris Pratt's Star-Lord when he became a Celestial in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. However, he sacrificed that power to reshape the galaxy in order to save it. There was also a brief moment when Captain Marvel was considered the most powerful Avenger yet. That power was used in her solo film to great effect when viewers witnessed her destroying entire starships with ease while displaying virtual invulnerability. Carol Danvers' power was granted to her through the energy of an Infinity Stone; similarly, Wanda's powers were activated with an Infinity Stone. While this should place them on the same playing field, the stone appeared to have awakened Wanda's latent powers rather than imbuing her with them. Her natural inclination for magic was bolstered by the cosmic might of the Mind Stone. Ultimately, the stone's power and Scarlet Witch's chaos magic have put her power levels far beyond Captain Marvel's.

Scarlet Witch Is Stronger Than Thor or Mjolnir Cap

When it comes to feats of strength, Avengers: Endgame placed Thor and Captain America, while wielding Mjolnir, near the top of the list. Both were able to give Thanos a challenge, and their creativity in using their abilities speaks to their combat intelligence. Thor has also been shown to take the full force of a star while Captain America can withstand hits from Thanos. When Wanda returned in Avengers: Endgame's Blip, her anger allowed her to nearly kill Thanos, a feat that people in the MCU still talk about. With her powers as the Scarlet Witch, she can conjure massive spells while simultaneously having her life force siphoned from her. The only thing that kept her going was the strength to carry on. Her feats exemplify not only her internal fortitude but also her physical strength.

The future of the MCU is still being written, but more magic is undoubtedly on the horizon. While the characters and the viewer take the journey, it will be up to Wanda Maximoff to find her new place as the Scarlet Witch. Her limitless potential has also opened her up to endless dangers as she sets out on her mission to find her children, whom she thought lost forever. However, with her new strength and abilities, she is not only the most powerful Avenger in the MCU, but she is also the most dangerous.
