Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch, has become a fan-favorite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since her debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron. She and her brother, Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver, are mutants who wield special powers. Wanda possesses helical magic that can either inflict pain, control minds, or move objects.

Although she remains a minor character in the Avengers series, she has a lot of epic moments that made her one of the strongest heroes in the MCU. Here’s a compilation of her best and most remarkable scenes that will prove how significant her character is.

10 Controlled Tony’s Mind

Mind control is one of Wanda’s most powerful weapons. She can make someone hallucinate so much they would lose their mind and drown in their own thoughts. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Wanda took over Tony Stark’s mind and showed him his greatest fear. In his mindscape, he saw his friends die because he was not able to save them.

Wanda was also able to tap into Ultron’s head for a bit before she was interrupted. This is when she found out about his evil plan. This only goes to show how strong her telepathic abilities are.

9 Lost It When Her Brother Died

Wanda and Pietro share a deep bond, not just because they are twins or mutants-born. After their parents died, they fled from Sokovia and have since been looking out for each other. They save each other from trouble and always stand beside one another.

One can only imagine the scorching pain that Wanda went through when she "felt" that Pietro died from bullet wounds after saving Clint Barton in an encounter in Avengers: Age of Ultron. As she drowns in her sorrow, she was able to release enormous energy that killed all of her opponents at range.

8 Bombed The Hospital

This is the scene that triggered the Team Cap versus Team Stark rivalry. In the light of the Superhero Registration Act, all members of the Avengers are to be held accountable for all the collateral damages they have done.

When Crossbones decided to blow himself up by pulling a grenade, Wanda immediately contained the blast using her powers, pulling the energy upwards until she reaches its limit and accidentally blasted the building nearby. The irony of saving numerous lives just to kill a bunch unintentionally at the same time is heartbreaking.

7 Grounded For Being Too Powerful

After the incident, Wanda was forced to not leave the headquarters as to not cause any more trouble. Vision keeps an eye on her at all times, not letting her slip away from his sight. For someone possessing such a magnitude of power, it’s difficult to cast her out and lock her in.

When Hawkeye picked her up to prepare for the upcoming airport battle against Team Stark, Vision tried to stop her but she is way too strong to be held back. What would she need Hawkeye for when she can escape on her own?

6 Pulled All The Cars Out From A Building

In the epic battle between Team Cap and Team Stark in Captain America: Civil War, Wanda managed to drag all the parked cars inside the airport building and haul them over Tony and company. Not even in a car racing-themed movie do we see raining automobiles falling from the sky.

Wanda has many unique ways of assaulting her opponents and defending herself. Because of her distinctive abilities, she’s able to launch long-range attacks in varied magnitude and scale. Unlike other superheroes with similar mystical powers, Wanda’s energy is far more unconquerable than others.

5 Made Hulk Furious

Hulkbuster versus Hulk in Age of Ultron

We’ve seen her mind control Tony but it’s not the same with Bruce Banner. When Wanda decided to play with Bruce and triggered his anger buttons, she was able to bring out the Hulk. The green-skinned monster went berserk and started ripping off everything. Good thing Tony built a suit that can go toe-to-toe with him—the Hulkbuster.

Wanda really has a habit of tickling people using their most intimate memories. She can actually bring out the worst in everyone so if you have something in mind that seems personal, never ever get close to her.

4 Engaged In The All-Female Group Against Thanos

Wanda may not be the front-and-center in this scene but we’ve got to admit, she’s the most powerful hero in the bunch. If the rest can beat one enemy at a time, Wanda can take a whole cluster of aliens and squash them with her pinky finger.

The whole scene where they back each other up side by side sends shiver on the spine. Imagine a huge squad of women with different superpowers launched at you and one of them is a scorned witch—better run for your life, boy.

3 Went 1v1 With Ultron

Wanda Maximoff kills Ultron.

After Wanda discovered Ultron’s ultimate plan and having her brother killed along with it, she finally takes on Ultron one versus one. She took his bionic heart and crushed it like a paper cup. In that scene, she told Ultron that’s how she felt when her brother died.

It took a while for the Avengers team to pin Ultron down, with six original members and a couple of SHIELD agents, but Wanda was able to rip him off with her bare hands. Imagine being that strong, she could have defeated Thanos in Avengers: Endgame all by herself.

2 Went To The Battlefield In Wakanda

In the scene where the mind stone is being carefully extracted from Vision’s forehead, Wanda stays with him and guards him against the imminent threat that’s outside Wakanda’s protective barrier.

As the enemies successfully break in and invade the country, the Avengers, together with the warriors of Wakanda, battle furiously in an epic clash. At that moment when the enemies seem to dominate, Wanda appears out of nowhere, hovering above them and starts to wipe them all in one go. We’re all thinking the same, Okay...why was she up there all this time?

1 Killed Vision

Wanda Kills Vision

In this heart-wrenching scene, Wanda extracted the mind stone from Vision and destroyed it so that Thanos cannot complete the infinity stones and fulfill his evil plans. Even though she knows it will kill the love of her life, she sacrificed her happiness for the sake of everyone.

An infinity stone can only be destroyed by someone of equal power. Wanda has not only demonstrated the intensity of her superpowers but also the strength of her character. This is why Wanda is easily one of the best heroes in the MCU!
