The stabbed eye is a gory sight, but Strange took it one step further and pulled Gargantos's entire eyeball out. The scene works as a scary warning to viewers, cautioning them that this isn't like any other MCU movie that they've seen before. It still manages to be a scary scene, even though its relatively bloodless.

After breaking through Kamar Taj's defenses, Wanda gets trapped in a mirror dimension thanks to Doctor Strange. She quickly figures out a way around it, though, and learns that she can escape through reflections.

Before America Chavez or Strange can do anything, Wanda breaks out of the mirror dimension through a gong. In the process, however, her body is broken and cut. Once she's fully outside the dimension, she snaps back into place. Nevertheless, viewers won't be forgetting the state and shape of the Scarlet Witch in this scene any time soon.

In an attempt to stop Wanda from dreamwalking through the multiverse, Sara took a chance and stabbed the Darkhold. Unfortunately, she paid the price for it. Sara's body turned into smoldering stone, and she cried a single tear before submerging.

There have been many deaths in the MCU, some more gruesome than others, but Sara's shocked audiences to their core. While Sara was not a main character in Multiverse of Madness, her sacrifice represented the whole of Kamar Taj. It wasn't a jump scare, but this scene provided viewers with the fear that no one is safe, and watching Sara being burnt to death was certainly brutal.

In an attempt to reach America Chavez, Wanda broke into the Illuminati headquarters and faced off against them. One by one, Wanda savagely murdered the Illuminati members, leaving viewers stunned at her brutality. The death of Black Bolt, who detonated his brain after Wanda erased his mouth, hit audiences especially hard.

Towards the middle of Multiverse of Madness, Wanda dreamwalks into the body of her alternate self. The scene then cuts to alternate Wanda's experience as her body is taken over, and the sequence is unnerving.

The surrounding area begins to become undone, showing an ocean in a cup and plates falling sideways against a wall. By the end of this, Earth-616 Wanda had taken over and looks directly at the audience before moving on. No other MCU movie has broken the fourth wall like this before. The scene made viewers nervous as it showed that this isn't a typical MCU film.

5 Wong Falling Off The Mountain Frightened Viewers

After Doctor Strange and America are transported into several universes, Wanda takes Wong hostage and takes him to the Darkhold's temple in the mountains. Wong then tries to reason with Wanda, but fails and is thrown off the side of the mountain.

Viewers were able to see Wong's attempt to stop himself from falling. He threw his blade to the top of the mountain, but it bounced off the rocks and he continued to fall. Wong later returned and was revealed to have survived, but his failed attempt to catch himself had left viewers fearing that he was dead.

The beginning of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness revealed Wanda as the villain, shocking many fans who'd predicted her villainy but had theorized that it would come later on in the film. Wanda's unrestrained attack on Kamar Taj, where she murdered hundreds of students and masters, was brutal.

Wanda's calculating look as she tried to get past the shields around Kamar Taj left a sense of unease in viewers. Audience's fear was heightened when she whispered "run" into one of the student's ears. The fight scene definitely proved that Wanda is one of the scariest villains an MCU hero has had to face.

Wanda, limp from stepping on glass, had oil all over her face. To many fans, this made her seem like a live-action zombie, feeding into the horror aspect of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

During the chase, Strange traps Wanda behind a door and proceeds to wait to see if she can break through. Viewers were left so tense from the anticipated jump scare that many wanted to tell Strange to move away from the door and continue running. Soon after, viewers were scared with a sudden appearance of Wanda.

1 Sinister Strange's Death Was Darker Than Audiences Anticipated

Many fans of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness remember the musical fight scene between Doctor Strange and Sinister Strange, but the ending to that fight is much more vividly recalled. During the battle with Sinister Strange, Doctor Strange is able to send a single music note to create a musical blast that knocks his opponent out of a window.

Sinister Strange lands on the gate outside his sanctum, impaled. This adds another dark death to the movie's tally. Earth-838 Christine, who had accompanied Doctor Strange, goes to inspect the dead sorcerer, only to see his third eye open.
