Saved by the Bell star Mario Lopez revealed the Peacock reboot of the 1989-1993 comedy will remember late co-star Dustin Diamond with a special tribute in the upcoming Season 2.

Lopez, a longtime friend of Diamond's, told Yahoo! Entertainment, "We're planning something special we haven't gotten into yet."

In February, Peacock greenlit a 10-episode second season of the revival, which debuted in November 2020. It features original cast members Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley Lauren as faculty members at their alma mater, Bayside High School, which has a new bunch of transfer students mixing with its affluent crowd.

Lopez said, "We're going to have our first table read in about a week or so, but we are planning some special. We're ready to start up again in June and I will be in all those episodes."

The Saved by the Bell star checked into a Florida hospital in January after suffering body aches. Dustin Diamond and was then diagnosed with Stage 4 small cell carcinoma. He died on Feb. 1 at age 44. Diamond appeared as nerdy Samuel "Screech" Powers in almost every version of Saved by the Bell, including predecessor series Good Morning Miss Bliss, spinoffs Saved by the Bell: The New Class and Saved by the Bell: The College Years and TV movies Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style and Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas.

The late actor did not participate in the Peacock reboot, but an episode noted that Screech was on the International Space Station with his hand-built robot, Kevin.
