WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Savage Avengers #17 by Gerry Duggan, Kev Walker, Java Tartaglia, and VC's Travis Lanham, on sale now.

There are plenty of fan-favorite Marvel heroes on the current roster of the Savage Avengers. From powerful magic users such as Doctor Strange and the X-Men's Magik to more brutal brawlers such as Conan of Cimmeria and Frank Castle, there is a hero or antihero that fits almost anyone's tastes. With so many big names on the team, it's all but certain that eventually one of them is going to geek out over the chance to meet and work with another or develop a fascination with a particular teammate.

When he finds himself locked up alongside a friend of a friend, Conan the Barbarian puts on a shocking display of admiration for one of the most savage Avengers, Wolverine.

Conan recently journeyed to Bruges alongside Magik, Black Knight, and the Juggernaut, the four of them sent by Doctor Strange to retrieve a powerful magic amulet from the Asgardian dragon known as Sadurang. The battle was hard-fought, even if it did end in less than climactic fashion, and when the dust had settled the team retired to their favorite hotspot for a few rounds of celebratory drinks. After Conan when he gets tossed in jail for his subsequent rowdiness, Conan meets Deadpool, and the two realize they have a shared connection in Wolverine. Conan is astounded by Deadpool's ability to regenerate like Logan, but if he had his choice, that isn't the power that Conan would take for himself.

While Wade admittedly hasn't heard from Wolverine in quite some time, citing the mutant Avenger's move to Krakoa as the thing that has gotten between them, Conan has been working alongside Logan for quite some time on Doctor Strange's team. Though they weren't put on the same squads when the team split to confront both Sadurang and the cartels that Kulan Gath had been taking for his own, they were together with the rest of the team during their huddle on the surface of the moon, and have fought alongside one another before then.

Not only is Conan familiar with Logan's battlefield prowess, he's totally fixated on acquiring his own set of "sneak blades," emphasizing his enthusiasm for the weapons with both a grin and a playful "snikt."

It isn't surprising that Conan is as enamored as he is over Wolverine. Logan has had a long history in the Marvel Universe, and that history is stained red with the blood of more people than could ever be counted. Conan himself is no slouch on in a fight, having slain both humans and monsters across time and space with his trusty blade, or whatever else he can get his hands on.

It makes perfect sense that Conan would want to make his hands themselves as lethal as possible, not that there is much room for improvement in that regard. Still, the thought of getting Wolverine claws is one of the most compelling ideas that Conan has ever had.
