Hot on the heels of Valiant Entertainment announcing Savage by Max Bemis and Nathan Stockman, the publisher has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at the Issue #1 covers by Marcus To, Christian Ward, Stacey Lee and Giuseppe Camuncoli.
"The goal with these covers was to illustrate where Savage is in his life right now." editor David Menchel said in a statement. "We wanted to marry the wild jungle vibes with the aesthetics and iconography of modern day. The result is a showcase of images where Savage almost feels at home. Each one, for the most part, features some kind of extra element that plays into the twist on Savage's current situation. The Marcus To A Cover does this subtlety, with street signs or the Union Jack flag caught inside the dinosaur's massive teeth. Christian Ward leans heavily into the streaming aesthetic of social media platforms, while still making sure to show Savage in a setting he'd otherwise be pretty comfortable in! I can't say much more about the next two covers, these are both parts of exclusive sets that haven't had their full announcements yet! But what I can say is that the Stacey Lee piece takes full advantage of the Savage Fever sweeping the Valiant Universe! And the preorder covers will show off some brutal action, where Savage can totally let loose. All in all, it's a cover program that has a lot of intent and thought behind it, and we have some amazing artists we're working with to bring this series to life.
