In honor of Luke Perry, who passed away earlier this week, NBC will air the episode of Saturday Night Live he hosted in 1993 tonight.
The Luke Perry episode, which originally aired during SNL's 18th season on February 7, 1993, featured Mick Jagger as the musical guest. It was also the final episode in which Dana Carvey appeared as a cast member. The episode included Jan Hooks, a former cast member and Jagger's Rolling Stones bandmate Keith Richards, who joined Jagger during a Weekend Update bit called Point/Counterpoint in which Mike Myers also played Jagger.
Perry's hosting gig came while he was starring as Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills, 90210, the height of his teen heartthrob days.
The Luke Perry episode of SNL will air tonight on NBC at 10 pm ET/PT, before the new episode for those in Eastern and Central time zones and after the new episode for those in Mountain and Pacific time zones. The new episode, with host Idris Elba and musical guest Khalid, will air live at 8:30 pm PT and 11:30 pm ET.
Perry's untimely death at the age of 52 happened after he suffered a "massive" stroke a few days before. In addition to his starring role on 90210, which rocketed him to stardom in the 90s, Perry had most recently been starring on Riverdale as Fred Andrews.
Airing Wednesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Ashleigh Miller, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick and Luke Perry.
