Sasuke's pride and arrogance forces to him try to appear as though he's ready to face any challenge. For instance, during the Land of Waves arc, he makes fun of Naruto for being too scared to fight. Nevertheless, when Sasuke encounters Orochimaru in the Forest of Death, viewers see a fearful Sasuke for the first time. Naruto instead charges into combat without hesitation and calls Sasuke out for not confronting his opponent. Sasuke usually shows no fear, but in this scene, he wasn't his usual self.

When Sasuke's Curse Mark activated in the Forest of Death, it darkened his personality drastically, turning him into a callous person. He had no sense of other people's emotions, so he violently attacked the Sound ninjas without remorse. He even appeared to enjoy causing them pain. Sakura tearfully begged Sasuke to return to his normal self. Though he was taking revenge against the people who hurt her, Sasuke's behavior still frightened Sakura. After the Curse Mark deactivated, even Sasuke is shocked by his actions.

3 Sasuke Does Not Reject Sakura By The End of Naruto Shippuden

When Sasuke prepared to leave Konohagakure for a journey of self reflection after he abandoned his evil ways, Sakura asked if she could tag along. Although Sasuke tells her she can't come with him, he pokes her forehead as a sign of affection and tells her that they can hang out some other time.

Sakura's eyes widen in shock after hearing this since Sasuke never reciprocated her love for him until this moment. This marks the first time Sasuke and Sakura show love for each other and their relationship begins to unfold from there.

2 Sasuke Almost Killed Sakura Twice

However, Sasuke was suspicious of her intent and almost hits her with Chidori. Later, Sakura tried to confront Sasuke again but can't bring herself to hurt him. Sasuke capitalized on this opportunity and tried to kill her again, but Naruto saved her just in time and received a scar from Sasuke's kunai in the process. It is no surprise that Sasuke turned his back on his old friends in pursuit of his goals, but to attack with the intent to kill stretched far beyond anything Sasuke had ever done.
