The following contains spoilers for Season 1 of Sasaki and Miyano, now streaming on Funimation.

Sasaki and Miyano, the charmingly sweet BL anime that debuted in the winter 2022 anime lineup, just wrapped its first season last month. The final episode came with the promise of a new anime project, giving fans something to look forward to -- especially as the manga continues to be licensed in English. With all that anticipation for Season 2, there are probably some lingering questions fans are hoping the new season to address.

While Sasaki and Miyano may have finally confessed their feelings for each other and officially become a couple, their story isn't over. Here are a few details fans might be wondering about the co-protagonists and their crew -- and what that could mean for Season 2.

What Happens When Sasaki Graduates?

Sasaki and Miyano Brings a Sweet Episode Just in Time for Valentine's Day

It's come up numerous times that Sasaki will be graduating soon since he's one year older than Miyano. This fast-approaching milestone was something that weighed heavily on Miyano as he was working through his feelings for Sasaki in the wake of the latter's confession.

Sasaki and Miyano could easily take a more dramatic turn in how it chooses to address the possibility of the two considering a long-distance relationship -- or even a potential breakup. There's still plenty of comedic levity that can be injected though, depending on if Miyano were to have read a BL series with a similar trajectory of events and how that might paint the situation. With the anime's grounded, slice-of-life story, such an ordeal for the characters is within reason and could provide a source of tension for Season 2 given the series' relatively low stakes thus far.

Will Sasaki and Miyano Meet Kuresawa's Girlfriend?

Miyano and Kurekawa look at manga on store bookshelves

Something else fans might be curious to see more of in Season 2 is Kuresawa and his relationship with his girlfriend, Fujimi. Kuresawa already mentioned that he wanted Sasaki to meet his girlfriend since the latter was the one who stepped in to help him during a fight -- which is, coincidentally, how Sasaki met Miyano.

Fujimi is also a BL fan so, throughout the series, Kuresawa asks for recommendations and even shops with Miyano for manga to gift to her. Kuresawa, Sasaki and Miyano's friendships are interestingly intertwined -- having Fujimi interact with them all would not only flesh out her and Kuresawa's story, but would likely provide more touching moments centered around their friendship from varying perspectives.

Will Kagiura Make an Appearance?

Hirano in Yanki attire

It's inevitable that Sasaki and Miyano fans are hoping for Hirano to get more screentime to help tie into the Hirano and Kagiura spinoff novel and manga. As Miyano often likes to quip about the BL potential that comes with Hirano living in a boys' dorm, it's not impossible that Hirano's life outside of school couldn't slowly make its way into the series.

Other characters like Hanzawa, Kuresawa, and even Ogasawara have gotten moments where fans saw more of their interpersonal engagements and struggles, so it makes sense that Hirano would be next, especially given the spinoff. Even if a new season isn't devoting a huge amount of time to introducing Kagiura and exploring his and Hirano's relationship, even a few moments would be guaranteed to be adorable -- and perhaps even comforting for Sasaki and Miyano as they begin their relationship together.

There's still little known about what the second season of Sasaki and Miyano will cover and how long it'll be, but there's certainly plenty of material left in the ongoing manga that can be incorporated. Whatever it may be, fans can likely expect more wholesome bits of love and friendship between Sasaki, Miyano and their colorful group of friends.
