Sandra Bullock jokingly explained why her new romantic adventure comedy The Lost City, originally known as the racier The Lost City of D, dropped the “D” from its title.

"I'd like to think that Paramount became very evolved and thought they didn't want to play favorites. Why does the D get all the attention?" Bullock joked when asked by The New York Times about the decision to change the movie's name. "Why not Lost City of V? Not everyone's into D. Some people really admire and like the V."

Although Bullock seems to be glad the movie is no longer called The Lost City of D, co-star Channing Tatum recently shared a different sentiment. When asked in a prior interview about the film losing its original, dirtier title, Tatum admitted, "I wished they wouldn't have dropped the 'D.' You never drop the 'D.'"

The Lost City of D is still the title of the romance novel that exists within the film, but Paramount Pictures announced during a CinemaCon presentation in August 2021 that the movie itself was being retitled The Lost City. The action-packed romantic comedy features Bullock as a romance novelist who ends up on a cutthroat jungle adventure with her cover model, played by Tatum.

One of the film's big comedic set pieces features Bullock pulling leeches off Tatum's butt while he's completely nude. The co-stars previously described what it was like shooting the sequence, with Bullock praising Tatum's commitment to the gag. "He worked so hard for a comedic moment that he knew needed to look and be a certain way," she said. "And I spent the remainder of the day just looking at it all, having long monologues to his bits and pieces."

Tatum added, "We didn't have any live leeches on set. We had a man gluing rubber leeches to my butt. That was my second day on set, and I had to be buck naked. I was like, 'Hi, my name is Chan. I'll be naked today.' Everyone is trying to look up and away."

Directed by brothers Adam and Aaron Nee, who co-wrote the screenplay with Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street) and Dana Fox (Cruella), The Lost City also features Daniel Radcliffe as an eccentric billionaire who kidnaps Bullock's character so she can lead him to an ancient city's lost treasure from her latest book. Brad Pitt, who recently worked with Bullock on the upcoming action thriller Bullet Train, makes a cameo appearance in the movie.

The Lost City hits theaters on March 25.
