Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton has reportedly joined the cast of Netflix's upcoming The Sandman television series, based on the horror comic series created by Neil Gaiman.

The report comes from Deadline, though it's unclear who Egerton will be playing in the series, which has been a common theme for the production. Casting reports and general information regarding The Sandman has been kept top secret, and the rest of the highly speculated roles, such as Death and Morpheus/Dream himself, have not yet been confirmed.

Egerton isn’t a stranger to comic book roles. In the adapted comic series Kingsman: The Secret Service and the sequel Kingsman: Golden Circle, he played Gary "Eggsy" Unwin, a rough-around-the-edges kid from South London who finds himself under the dapper tutelage of Harry Hart (played by Colin Firth) when he's recruited for the secret service to stop worldwide chaos. The actor also voiced the necromancer Constantine in the Audible original adaption of The Sandman.

The Eisner Award-winning Sandman comic series was first published in 1989 by DC's Vertigo Comics imprint. In the story, Morpheus, the immortal prince of dreams, stories and imagination, has been imprisoned for over 70 years until he makes his escape. He's one of seven immortal siblings known as the Endless that embody the natural forces of the human experience. Throughout his adventure, Morpheus learns about humanity and the nature of change through wondrous realms of dreaming.
