As part of DC Comics Publisher Jim Lee's charity art auctions to benefit comic book shops affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, artist Arthur Adams has crafted a stunning piece depicting the Sandman Universe's Death of the Endless.

An photo of Adams' artwork was shared to Twitter by Lee himself. "Words just cannot capture how beautiful [and] moving this illustration of Death by [Arthur Adams] is!" the Burbank-based publisher's Chief Creative Officer wrote. "Thank you Arthur for creating this masterpiece [and] donating it to benefit struggling comic shops in need via [Binc Foundation]." The mostly black-and-white piece depicts Death sitting against a gravestone with a smile on her face as a colorful rose blooms before her.

Bidding on Adam's piece is currently live on Ebay and will conclude on Monday. At the time of writing, the auction has already surpassed $11,000 USD. Created by Neil Gaiman, Mike Dringenberg and Malcolm Jones III, Death first appeared in 1989's Sandman #8. Adams is certainly no stranger to Morpheus' elder sister, having previously drawn the character for the 1994 Vertigo Comics release A Death Gallery.

Lee has pledged to draw a new sketch every day for 60 days, then put them up for auction, with the proceeds benefiting the Book Industry Charitable Foundation's efforts to help out comic book shops that have lost sales due to the ongoing pandemic. Additionally, Lee has enlisted numerous other artists -- such as Adams -- to contribute to the cause as well.
