Samurai Jack will soon be returning, this time in a new video game. Creator Genndy Tartakovsky has a few details on what players can expect.

In an interview with IGN, Tartakovsky discussed the gameplay and story for Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time. According to the animator, the game will pick up somewhere in the final season, with the demonic Aku sending Jack into an alternate timeline. He stressed that he had a greater involvement with this video game than the previous game that had been released for the PlayStation 2. "It takes a commitment and a love to do this right. For video games, for TV shows, for anything," he said.

Tartakovsky also confirmed that Jack's ally, the Scotsman, as well as the soul collector Demongo, would appear. The voice cast from the animated series, save for Aku's original voice actor, the late Mako, will also return to voice their roles. "There's an authenticity to it that I think you don't get with other games based on properties," Tartakovsky stated.

Developed by Soleil Games, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch this summer.
