Samuel L. Jackson to Take on 'The Blob' in Sci-Fi Remake

After facing the homicidal Ultron in the "Avengers" sequel, Samuel L. Jackson will confront an extraterrestrial threat in director Simon West's "The Blob."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will play a biochemistry professor attempting to thwart the oozing menace discovered deep within the Earth in the remake of the 1958 horror/sci-fi classic.

The original film, which starred Steve McQueen, spawned a 1972 sequel and a 1998 remake.

Principal photography is set to begin this summer, so expect more casting announcements soon.
