Samuel L. Jackson is one of those performers who’s always a joy to watch. His great movies are a blast and his bad ones, even more so. Three words: Deep Blue Sea.
So ultimately, more Jackson is always a good thing. Which is why you should be pleased to hear that he’ll be shooting something before he does his Nick Fury thing again for Marvel Studios in The Avengers. Coming up for the actor is The Samaritan, a neo-noir thriller in which he plays Foley, a grifter with a past he desperately wants to get away from. Of course, we all know that a troubled past is the worst kind of past to escape from in a movie, especially a thriller, so Foley’s got some tough times ahead.
Deadline reports that David Weaver will direct, and that Luke Kirby and Ruth Negga will also star. Jackson and company start filming this Sunday, with a shoot that spans locations in Canada and Brazil.
I’m not going to peg a movie as “potentially one of the bad ones” before it’s even been shot … but I’m not sure how to finish that sentence. Either way, as I said up top, it’ll be entertaining.
