Sam Strike, best known for his role on the British soap opera "EastEnders," has landed the titular role in Millennium Films' "Leatherface," The Wrap reports.

The film will act as an origin story for the famous horror icon Leatherface, who first appeared in the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Strike will play Jackson, the teenager who becomes the popular villain, during his youth in the 1970s.

"Inside" filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are on board to direct the project, which was written by former CBR contributor Seth M. Sherwood. Carl Mazzocone will produce alongside Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman, who rebooted the franchise in 2013.
