Sami Raimi was the first man to bring Spider-Man to the big screen with his original trilogy. Now, with Marvel Studios finally joining Sony in development of the latest reboot of the character, it's worth wondering what Raimi thinks of their new direction. MTV had the chance to ask him when they chatted with the director about the upcoming "Ash vs. Evil Dead" series.

At first, MTV's Josh Horowitz asked if Raimi had even seen Marc Webb's two Spidey films. "Oh yeah, I saw them both. They were great." He immediately started talking about Marvel's plan for the character. "And I'm really glad that Marvel's taking it to high school. I think that's going to be refreshing, and just like my favorite of the Spider-Man comic books. And I have a lot of faith that they really know their stuff."

When asked what aspect of Peter Parker's universe he's excited to see explored for the first time, Raimi returned to the character's age. "I'd like to go into his high school life. His relationships with Gwen Stacy... I love Flash Thompson, yeah. The drama, the difficulty of going through high school is so unique to a superhero. It's unique, and that's what Spider-Man's all about. So that they're going to explore that head-on is very exciting."
