Sam Raimi is circling a remake of the 2010 French crime thriller "A Prophet" for producer Neal Moritz's ("Furious 7") Original Film and Sony Pictures. "Total Recall's" Toby Jaffe is also producing the remake.

Deadline reports that Raimi is "in talks" to direct the pic, from an adapted screenplay by "Shutter Island" scribe Dennis Lehane.

Originally directed by Jacques Audiard, "A Prophet" follows a young man's rise through the ranks of a crime syndicate. The film won the Grand Prize at Cannes, nine César Awards in France, and was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars in 2010.

The "A Prophet" remake hasn't been given a release date.
