The first trailer for Sam Raimi's Crawl is here.

Judging by the action-packed trailer, Crawl will be reminiscent of survival horrors like Jaws and Lake Placid. Produced by Raimi and directed by Alexandre Aja, the film stars Kaya Scodelario, who is known for her role as Effy on the UK show Skins.

According to the film's official description,

When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father. Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.

Aja is a French director known especially for his work on horror films, including 2003's High Tension and 2006's The Hills Have Eyes.  Recently, Sam Raimi produced 2016's Don't Breathe and directed the pilot episode of Ash Vs. The Evil Dead. Raimi is well known for directing the original Evil Dead franchise and the 2000s' Spider-Man trilogy.

Crawl is set to release on July 12. The film was written by Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen and will also star Barry Pepper and Ross Anderson.
