Sam Claflin, Alicia Vikander In Talks For The Seventh Son

Sam Claflin and Alicia Vikander are in talks to play lead roles in The Seventh Son, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ adaptation of the young-adult fantasy The Last Apprentice, Variety reports.

Joseph Delaney’s bestselling novels center on a boy with second sight who’s trained by the County Spook, whose job it is fight ghosts, witches and creatures of the night.

The 24-year-old Claflin, who appears as the missionary Philip Swift in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, would play gifted apprentice Thomas J. Ward, who's just 12 in the first book. Vikander would portray Alice Deane, a young girl who grows up to be a witch.

Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore are already in negotiations to John Gregory, the prolific and mysterious 18th-century Spook, and a witch, respectively.

Sergey Bodrov (Nomad, Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan) is set to direct.
