There is no more polarizing figure in Naruto than Sakura. Many disliked her character in Naruto, mostly due to her immaturity, infatuation with Sasuke, and how she was always a damsel in distress. Thankfully, two of those three things were wiped away in Boruto, making her a far more interesting character.

They aren't the only things Sakura has grown out of. She experienced a lot of growth throughout the Naruto series, even if it was overshadowed by her teammates. That said, some of her core personality traits have remained the same, namely her love for Sasuke.

10 Grown: Mended Issues She Had With Ino

Sakura Ended Her Friendship With Ino

When she was younger, Sakura was far from mature. It can be excused to a degree, given how young most of the characters are at the start of Naruto, but it doesn't make the reason she had a rivalry with Ino any less stupid.

The fact their relationship got fractured because of them both liking Sasuke was beyond silly. Thankfully, in more recent times, both Ino and Sakura are on far better terms, rekindling the close friendship they used to have.

9 Stayed The Same: She's Still Prone To Violent Outbursts

One thing that's always been present inside Sakura is her anger, something she's always struggled to corral. Naruto was often the target of that anger during both the original series and Shippuden due to the dumb comments he'd make.

As she's grown older, she's been able to reel them in more, but they still manage to crop up every now and then. Thankfully, given Naruto's standing in the village, he's no longer the source of those issues.

8 Grown: Inner Sakura Is No Longer Present In Her Life

Inner Sakura

At the start of the series, Inner Sakura was a big part of Sakura's character, even playing a big role in how she was able to overcome Ino's special technique.

Its entire existence was due to Sakura hiding her true personality away from others, building a façade of someone who was always in control of their emotions. As she grew older, Inner Sakura slowly faded away and now doesn't exist since Sakura isn't afraid of showing her true self any longer.

7 Stayed The Same: Her Undying Love Of Saskue Remains

The main purpose of Sakura for much of Naruto was to be hopelessly in love with Sasuke, never wanting to see the bad in him, much like her teammate Naruto. While she wavered towards the end of Shippuden, her love for Sasuke never left, and by the end of the series, the two were a married couple.

That love hasn't gone anywhere in Boruto, even as Sasuke is often away from his family on missions. She'll always be by his side, no matter what.

6 Grown: She's Not Self-Conscious Of Her Forehead

Sakura's forehead has always been a sore subject for her. It was a source of endless teasing when she was younger, girls always laughing about how broad it was. Even Sakura trying to cover it with her bangs didn't work, making the teasing even worse.

It wasn't until she met Ino that she started to get more confidence. As she grew older, that confidence only grew, and now, Sakura could care less about what people say about her.

5 Stayed The Same: She Still Values & Loves Her Teammates

Initially, Sakura didn't think much of Naruto, seeing him more of an annoyance than anything else. As the series progressed, her feelings started to change as she got more mature.

She saw Naruto as a valued teammate, was inspired by his rapid growth and used him as an example of how she could get stronger. Now that they are adults, Naruto is practically a member of the Uchiha family, and Sakura still cherishes the memories she has of them as a team.

4 Grown: She's No Longer The Dead Weight Of Team 7

During the course of Naruto, Sakura was left in the dust by the powers of Naruto and Sasuke. She always ended up being a damsel in distress during most fights, always needing one of her teammates to swoop in and save her.

By the end of Shippuden, she starts to catch up, helping them battle Kaguya. That continues in Boruto as she's able to handle her own in battle against Shin Uchiha. It's something even Sasuke comments on, knowing full well Sakura can handle herself.

3 Stayed The Same: Her Fighting Style Still Resembles Tsunade's

Sakura in Boruto

Given that she's a mother now, it's understandable that Sakura's skills as a ninja wouldn't differ much from what they were in Naruto. She has to spend most of her time taking care of her daughter, focusing more on her than anything else.

It doesn't hurt that Sakura is already a sannin-level ninja either, capable of doing just about everything that Tsunade could. As her battle with Shin showed, she's still immensely strong and one of the best medical ninja in all of Konoha.

2 Grown: She's Grown Into A Quality Teacher

Boruto Uchiha Family Sarada and Sakura

During the Kara Actuation arc of the Boruto anime, Sakura took it upon herself to train Sarada rather than try to continue babying her. She managed to pinpoint Sarada's biggest weakness after one brief spar, showing how intelligent she was.

Not only that, she knew exactly how to improve it, unlike her husband, who notably struggled with teaching as everything came naturally for him. It will be interesting to see how much stronger Sarada can get under her mother's tutelage.

1 Stayed The Same: She's Still Protective Of Those Around Her

When she was younger, her over-protectiveness extended to Sasuke and Naruto, doing everything she could to help the two of them, even if it sometimes caused her to need saving.

Now that they are adults, neither of them needs her protection anymore, allowing her to focus solely on her daughter. She'd do anything if it meant keeping Sarada safe, even if it meant willingly getting kidnapped.
