Netflix has released the first official trailer for the upcoming anime series Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac.

Based on the Saint Seiya manga series by Masami Kurumada that was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump, the CG-animated show centers on an orphan named Seiya who discovers he's the latest in a line of knights destined to defend the reincarnation of Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom and War.

In the original manga, the knights were called saints and they fought while wearing mythical armor called cloths. However, it's unclear how much this new series will borrow from the manga versus previous anime adaptations of the source material.

In ancient times, a group of young men devoted their lives to protecting Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom and War. Now, in present day, a young orphan Seiya and a new generation of Saints is about to come forth to aid Athena in battle against those who seek to end mankind.

Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac stars Bryson Baugus, Emily Neves, Blake Shepard, Patrick Poole, Luci Christian, Adam Gibbs, Masakazu Morita, Fumiko Orikasa, Takahiro Sakurai, Hiroaki Miura, Satomi Sato and Katsuyuki Konishi. Season 1 arrives on Netflix July 19.
