Sailor Venus is one of the most popular Inner Guardians in Sailor Moon. She’s the last addition to the group, which would make her seem like an outsider in some cases, but she ends up fitting right in. She’s also the only member of the Inner Guardians who was a Sailor Guardian before meeting Usagi and Luna; she therefore brings something special to the team with her experience.

Plus, she is a lot like Usagi in their shared silliness; her cheerfulness makes her a fun character. But she definitely has some annoying aspects, and there are moments that even the most dedicated Sailor Venus fans can’t stand her.

10 Hated: Trying To Get A Pure Heart Crystal

Minako Sailor Venus Sailor Moon

Minako, as will be discussed further, is pretty vain, and this definitely extends to her feelings about herself as a person. She hates the idea that she doesn’t have a pure heart crystal, something most innocent and selfless people have, and she spends a lot of time trying to prove that her heart is indeed pure. She runs around giving blood and trying to donate wherever she can, mostly to prove something to herself and her friends; not because she’s actually feeling altruistic.

9 Loved: Posing As Sailor Moon

When some enemies think that they have discovered the civilian identity of Sailor Moon is Usagi, Minako, who looks quite a bit like Usagi, poses as her to throw them off the trail because Sailor Moon can’t possibly have both been captured by them and coming to defeat them. It’s an incredibly funny moment that pokes fun at their similar character designs while also showing that Minako is down to try anything to help out her friends.

8 Hated: Being Vain

Minako is easily the most vain member of the Inner Guardians, which is pretty incredible considering that they’re all teenage girls who know they’re cute. Minako is over the top with this, especially when it comes to talking about how much boys are into her. She goes through dramatic moments of lamenting how beautiful she is and talking about how it’s a curse and should be illegal to be so beautiful. Even though she is the Guardian of Love, these are some of her most deeply irritating moments.

7 Loved: Saving The Day

Minako AKA Sailor V AKA Sailor Venus In Sailor Moon Crystal

Sailor Venus comes onto the scene just in time to save the day after the Sailor Guardians get captured by Queen Beryl’s troops. It’s the coolest entrance of any of the Sailor Guardians, because she doesn’t transform, and it’s something of a surprise.

She just turns up, sends the bad guys packing pretty quickly, and sets the other girls free, introducing us to perhaps the coolest and most powerful of the Inner Guardians in the process.

6 Hated: Being Boy-Crazy

Sailor Moon: Minako flirting with Motoki with an angry Usagi in the background

All of the Inner Guardians are a little bit obsessed with boys (with the exception of Ami to some degree, at least), but Minako takes it to a new level. Unlike the other girls, who are mostly interested in having boyfriends, Minako has a rotating wheel of guys she hangs out with, because she likes to have options about the kind of good time she’s looking to have. It’s extra annoying when hanging out with boys means shirking her responsibilities to the other Guardians or showing up late to hangouts with her friends.

5 Loved: Becoming The Leader

Sailor Venus Sailor Moon

Though Sailor Moon is considered the leader of the Inner Guardians on Earth as well as the Moon Princess, Sailor Venus was actually the leader of the Guardians when they still lived in the Moon Kingdom and their main job was protecting Princess Serenity. In Sailor Moon Crystal, she is quick to step up to take this position again amongst the Guardians when she joins them on Earth, particularly when Sailor Moon isn’t around to lead them.

4 Hated: Fighting With Makoto

Minako and Makoto (Sailor Jupiter) are pretty good friends in the series. In the anime, there’s a pretty huge time gap between when Rei joins the team as Sailor Mars and when Makoto and Minako join the team, which makes them seem like they’re not quite part of the Inner Guardians in the same way as Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars.

So it makes sense that they hang out a lot as friends. That’s why it’s even more annoying when the two of them fight over a boy, especially since he turns out not to be interested in either of them.

3 Loved: Being Sailor V

Sailor V from Sailor Moon

Sailor V is an established character in Sailor Moon before Usagi even becomes Sailor Moon. Minako and Artemis have been running around the city stopping bad guys for a long time. Her outfit is unique as it comes with a cool mask. Not to mention the fact that she did the work without the help of the other Sailor Guardians for so long makes her seem really capable. Thus, a natural fit for joining the team.

2 Hated: Not Trusting The Guardians

Sailor Moon: Sailor Venus Wink Chain Sword

When Sailor Venus turns up in Sailor Moon Crystal, she steps in to help the Sailor Guardians fighting against Queen Beryl and her forces. But she’s also weirdly distant from them and not very forthcoming about her intentions. It makes her seem sketchy, and the fact that she doesn’t trust the other Guardians with her knowledge actually has the potential of putting them all in danger, since she has important information they all need.

1 Loved: Being A Good Friend To Usagi

Sailor Moon: Minako brushing Usagi's hair

In the original Sailor Moon anime, the girls are gearing up to take the fight to Queen Beryl and to end things with the Dark Kingdom once and for all. Usagi is understandably stressed, especially since she’s recently gotten her memories of the Silver Millennium era back and she’s worried about a missing Mamoru. Minako coming over to comfort her and help her relax, going so far as to brush Usagi’s incredibly long hair is a sweet moment. This shows her as a great potential new friend.
