Although the first manga was released almost 30 years ago, Sailor Moon remains one of the most popular anime in the Magical Girl genre and continues to attract fans old and young thanks to its lovable characters and gripping storyline. Sailor Moon follows a group of teenagers with the power to transform themselves thanks to magical items and fight evil to protect their lost princess and her Silver Crystal.

When the girls aren't saving the world in the Sailor uniforms we all know and love so much, they go about their days as regular teenagers. The show's design has a very '90s feel to it, which shows in the character's fashion choices. With the recent come back of '90s fashion trends, let's take a look at some of Usagi's, AKA Sailor Moon's, best outfits that we'd totally wear today:

10 Turtleneck And Miniskirt

Let's start off with an outfit that Usagi is seen wearing fairly often all throughout the show: a chunky cowl neck sweater and a flowy miniskirt. From the late '90s, early '00s emerged a fascination for collars and large necklines. A lot of sweaters had what is called a cowl neck, which is basically a looser version of a turtleneck. Usagi was seen on multiple occasions wearing her version of the cowl neck sweater, always in a shade of pink (which seems to be a go-to color). Paired with a flowy, dark miniskirt and you have yourself a stylish and comfy everyday outfit we'd totally wear today.

9 Sportswear, But Make It Fashion

Next up is what can only be described as the ultimate '90s sportswear outfit. One of the things that are noticeable in '90s fashion is the bright color palette and the association of multiple colors that don't necessarily go together but somehow still work. Those who are old enough remember owning a similar, though maybe in a different color, bomber-jacket in their youth and have definitely paired it with a bright-colored turtleneck much like Usagi.

What makes this outfit feel like a true '90s outfit is the added shorts leggings and high socks.

8 Timeless Spaghetti Strap Dress

Short, spaghetti-straps dresses were all the rage back when Sailor Moon was coming out, particularly among the younger generation who was eager to find its own style. Being a 14-year-old girl at the beginning of the series, Usagi is of course very up to date with current fashion trends so this outfit comes as no surprise.

The creators made a point to give each character distinctive personalities that they express both by their actions and their fashion choices. The above outfit is one of Usagi's more 'grown-up' looks, and we often see people wearing similar outfits nowadays.

7 Shorts And Suspenders

This next outfit has some serious Gryffindor vibes and we're here for it! We particularly love the matching hairbows. A small detail, but it finishes the look.

Although very simple, this outfit still screams "Usagi," and very much reflects her personality. The addition of suspenders gives the whole outfit a more stylish and thoroughly thought out look while remaining super comfy. Just a simple pair of baggy shorts and a tucked-in sweater can go a long way. Add this outfit to your "would definitely steal that" list.

6 Casual Usagi

Here's a super simple outfit to put together that still looks awesome and would for sure work great today. Usagi is seen a few times wearing longer dresses, but her go-to is definitely miniskirts. A classic black miniskirt paired with a solid color top and a statement jacket is an easy look to pull off.

The hooded jacket gives this look a more casual style that still works today. Want a more dressed up look? Just switch up the hooded-jacket for a blazer, and voila!

5 Passion Rompers

Although not the most practical piece of clothing, rompers are still widely worn and loved today. They made a huge comeback a few years ago and are now a staple in everyone's wardrobes. It's funny to see that rompers were already very popular in the 90s and even funnier to see that some on our favorite characters also had a passion for this unique piece of clothing! Here are three times Usagi was seen wearing a pair of rompers. Super casual yet very classy, the long sleeve underneath makes this a great transition outfit.

4 Little Bunny

As you may know, 'Usagi' means 'Rabbit" in Japanese. If you didn't know, you can now appreciate the little bunny head on Usagi's sweatshirt, you're welcome. Fun fact: Usagi is called "Bunny" in the French version of Sailor Moon.

This outfit is very much a classic '90s winter outfit. Again, we find Usagi's go-to miniskirt, paired this time with a huge purple sweatshirt, yellow scarf, matching mittens, and the classic high socks, but no tights because it seems that legs never get cold in anime.

3 Everyday Flight Attendant

Once again, this outfit is high in colors. No surprise there, as the '90s were known for their colorful garments.

What makes this outfit special is the high collared shirt paired with a scarf that gives a subtle 'flight attendant but make it fashion' look that works so well. Hair scarves have been making a comeback lately, and can be found pretty much anywhere. Maybe it's time to bring back neck scarves? It seems that this outfit should be given another chance.

2 Summer Dress

As mentioned before, Usagi's go-to skirt length is definitely on the shorter side, but she wore a few long summer dresses that we would totally see in stores today. One example of such a dress is the one above. It's just a simple summer dress with buttons all down the front and lovely bow detail at the back that makes it special. This style of dress is still very much loved nowadays and it wouldn't even be stealing to put together a similar outfit, that's how timeless it is.

1 Simple Summer Outfit

Last but not least, here's a super simple yet super cool outfit worth stealing. It's nothing fancy, just a pair of blue flowy shorts and a graphic tee, but not only does it give off a subtle '90s vibe, but it's also super easy to put together with what you probably already own. Usagi wore some pretty crazy outfits, like that wild oversized pink blazer, that, let's be honest, weren't the prettiest. But, her simpler outfits are stylish, timeless, and make for super subtle everyday cosplays!
