When you think about Sailor Moon, Pokémon might not come to your mind at first. While both are considered children's anime and have a wide array of fans within the groups, they are drastically different. Even so, it is fun to think about the possibilities.
For example, what would each of the Sailor Guardians pokémon be? Each Sailor Guardian's personality is unique in their own way, which makes you wonder about which would be their go-to option. Despite knowing we'll never witness Amu riding Lapras, it does not hurt to think about it. Here is what we think each of their Sailor Guardian's pokémon would be if they had one.
10 Sailor Chibi Moon: Jigglypuff
Sailor Chibi Moon, or known by her name Chibiusa, is the cute-yet-bratty child of Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion, which is Usagi and Mamoru. She is also depicted as being very cute and likes pulling pranks, which makes Jigglypuff the perfect pokémon for Sailor Chibi Moon.
Jigglypuff is a round and puffy ball who was at first a normal-type that got the addition of a fairy-type. With the ability Cute Charm, a move that makes another pokémon having a chance of becoming infatuated and immobilized by love, it is similar to Sailor Chibi Moon in the way she attacks.
9 Sailor Saturn: Female Gardevoir
Sailor Saturn, real name Hotaru Tomoe, is an elegant Sailor Guardian who was at first depicted as a mysterious girl. In the end, she ends up befriending Chibiusa, and they become best friends despite her being one of the most complex Sailor Guardians in the bunch, as she is named the soldier of death and rebirth.
The perfect pokémon for Sailor Saturn is the female version of Gardevoir, originally a psychic-type that is now that and a fairy-type. As Hotaru has the power to wipe out an entire galaxy and reset its evolution, a powerful psychic-type who is elegant fits her best.
8 Sailor Pluto: Umbreon
Sailor Pluto, or Setsuna Meioh in her civilian form, is the Sailor Guardian who is perhaps the most mature of the bunch. She is stationed at the Door of Space-Time to protect intruders from entering and has powers of time, the underworld, and even the darkness. Based on Sailor Pluto's abilities, a dark-type pokémon would be the perfect fit.
One of the evolutions of Eevee, Umbreon evolves when leveled up with high friendship during the night or with a Moon Shard. Umbreon is protective of itself, spraying poisonous sweat when it is flustered and makes others fearful of it during the night when its markings glow. Umbreon would be the perfect pokémon companion for Sailor Pluto.
7 Sailor Neptune: Vaporeon
It's hard to think about Sailor Neptune without Sailor Uranus, but, this time around, it is about her and her pokémon. In her civilian form, Sailor Neptune's name is Michiru Kaioh. She is an elegant, sophisticated, and level-headed Sailor Soldier who has precognitive powers and utilizes the sea.
She is nicknamed the Soldier of Deep Waters and uses ocean-based attacks, so the perfect pokémon for Michiru would be a water-type. The pokémon Michiru would most likely have is Vaporeon, one of Eevee's evolutions achieved when exposed to a Water Stone. The intelligence and elegance of Vaporeon match and make them a perfect combination.
6 Sailor Uranus: Lucario
Continuing from Sailor Neptune, we have Sailor Uranus next, more commonly known by her name Haruka Tenoh. Sailor Uranus has powers that include the wind and sky, and she is adept at using swords in combat. She also possesses precognitive powers like Sailor Neptune. You may be thinking why Lucario, a fighting-type pokémon, would be the perfect fit for Sailor Neptune.
Although Sailor Uranus' powers come from the wind and sky, she also is excellent at hand-to-hand combat. She has superhuman strength, speed, and agility, which makes Lucario, a fighting-type, a great companion, as well as a pokémon that resembles her.
5 Sailor Venus: Jynx
Sailor Venus, or known by her name Minako Aino, was the first Sailor Guardian to awaken her powers. She was officially the fourth to be discovered by Usagi, however. Sailor Venus has the powers of love, beauty, light, and golden metal. Out of all the Sailor Guardians, Sailor Venus daydreams about boys and is perhaps the most romantic.
In this case, Jynx would be the pokémon she would use the most. Jynx is a relatively flirtatious pokémon, as it shakes its hips as if it were dancing. It is an ice-type and psychic-type pokémon, too, and is a 100% female pokémon.
4 Sailor Jupiter: Roselia
Sailor Jupiter, or known by her civilian name Makoto Kino, is the Sailor Soldier who has the powers weather manipulation, plant manipulation, and superhuman strength. She also has the power of electricity. With all considered, the perfect Pokémon for Sailor Jupiter's would be a grass-type, and none other than Roselia, who is a poison-type, as well.
This is also a homage to her pink rose-shaped earrings. Roselia can lull other pokémon to sleep, lower their guard, and shoot thorns at anyone who tries to steal its flowers. Roses have thorns, and so do both Sailor Jupiter and Roselia.
3 Sailor Mars: Rapidash
Sailor Mars, or Rei Hino, is the fiery and passionate Sailor Soldier who was the third to be found by Usagi. She has the powers of pyrokinesis as well as psychic and spiritual powers, as she is a shrine maiden. Interestingly enough, although we all know Rei as a hotheaded character, in the manga, she is cold and aloof.
For the hothead that is Sailor Mars, she needs a pokémon that will befit her personality. That pokémon is none other than Rapidash, a fire-type okémon. Rapidash is an agile pokémon that also happens to have quite the temper when angered.
2 Sailor Mercury: Starmie
Ami Mizuno, also known as Sailor Mercury, is the second Sailor Guardian to be discovered by Usagi, and she has the powers of water and cold, and she is extremely intelligent. She serves as the brains of the Sailor Guardians and uses a supercomputer to collect information, which makes her a great asset to the group.
What other pokémon other than Starmie can be a perfect fit for such an intelligent young woman? Starmie is a water-type and psychic-type which fits with Sailor Mercury's water manipulation. Although she does not have clairvoyance, she collects information from various battles akin to a psychic-type like Starmie.
1 Sailor Moon: Cressalia
We finally have Sailor Moon, a.k.a. Usagi Tsukino, and the best fit for her. As the main character, what other pokémon would be a fit for her besides the legendary psychic-type pokémon Cressalia? Although Cressalia is a legendary pokémon, its leveling rate is slow, akin to Usagi's clumsy pace.
Cressalia is said to represent the crescent moon, which is similar to Usagi, as well, and is the only pokémon able to learn Lunar Dance. The move causes the user to faint, but it supports all of the pokémon that are sent out to battle. What other pokémon can fit Sailor Moon better than Cressalia?
