The Sailor Guardians remain the most popular magical girl team thirty years after their debut. Their diverse powers, personalities, and emblematic uniforms have turned them into icons in the anime sphere, a position they share with other similarly influential franchises like the ever beloved Pokémon.

While a crossover between Sailor Moon and Pokémon might never happen, it's interesting to explore how they might interconnect if the Sailor Scouts ever took on Pokémon training during their limited time away from crime-fighting. Certain Sailor Scouts may gravitate toward certain Pokémon types that complement their powers.

10 Sailor Saturn — Ghost & Dark-Types

Sailor Saturn with Pokemon Umbreon and Gengar

With her obscure and strong powers, Sailor Saturn would make a formidable Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokémon trainer. As the Forbidden Guardian, Sailor Saturn boasts incredible skills such as being able to create force fields, heal herself and others, and expel deadly beams toward the strongest of enemies.

Dark-type Pokémon like Umbreon and Absol can learn similar energy-based attacks, and Ghost-types like Gengar and Chadelure suit her "harbinger of death" position within the Sailor Scouts.

9 Sailor Pluto — Psychic-Type

Sailor Pluto with Pokemon Mew

The oldest Sailor Scout in the team, Sailor Pluto is known for her time-bending powers as the Guardian of the Space-Time Door in Crystal Tokyo. Her weapon of choice, a rod holding the mystical Garnet Orb, can wipe out enemies, stop time, and even open a door into the past or into the future.

Given her reality-altering skills, Psychic-type Pokémon like Espeon and Musharna would suit her the best. Her job as a researcher could also allow her to investigate mysterious Psychic-types like Mew and the Unown.

8 Sailor Uranus — Flying, Ground, & Fighting-Types

Sailor Uranus with Pokemon Galarian Zapdos

As the princess of the planet Uranus, Sailor Uranus has powers related to the sky and the ground, using both to fight the wicked foes who keep trying to steal the Silver Crystal. Her most recognizable attack, World Shaking, consists of gathering energy from the sky and using it to create enemy-destroying earthquakes.

Sailor Uranus would be unstoppable with a team of dual-type Pokémon like Galarian Zapdos, a Fighting/Flying-type, or Landorus, a Ground/Flying-type. The Black Moon Clan wouldn't be able to handle it, even if she were on her own.

7 Sailor Neptune — Water & Psychic-Types

Sailor Neptune with Pokemon Starmie and Seadra

Drawing her powers from her Roman namesake, Sailor Neptune uses her water-based attacks to protect the Earth from the forces of evil. Aside from her oceanic powers, Sailor Neptune also possesses the ability of precognition through her Deep Aqua Mirror, which she later uses in one of her most iconic attacks, Submarine Reflection.

Water-type Pokémon like Seadra and Psychic-types like Espurr could suit her, but dual-type Starmie would definitely be Sailor Neptune's first-choice companion.

6 Sailor Chibi Moon — Fairy-Type

Sailor Chibi Moon with Pokemon Alcremie Cleffa

Following in her mother's footsteps, Sailor Chibi Moon would probably take on training Fairy-type Pokémon that suit her cute and pink-heavy attacks. After returning to the 20th century, Chibiusa starts her training to become a capable Guardian like Sailor Moon, developing her skills and becoming one of the key members of the team.

Since she's still a child, baby Fairy-type Pokémon like Cleffa and Igglybuff would make a perfect match for her. Chibiusa would be able to nurture them for a long time, allowing them to evolve when she eventually assumes her position as the new leader of the Sailor Scouts.

5 Sailor Venus — Fairy-Type

Sailor Venus with Pokemon Dedenne Ribombee

Sailor Venus was the first of the Sailor Guardians to gain her powers, leading her to fight evil under the moniker of Sailor V before she joined the team. Honoring the Roman goddess of love her planet is named after, Sailor Venus uses the beaded chain around her waist to execute one of her most powerful moves, Venus Love-Me Chain.

Given her namesake, Sailor Venus would probably go for the lovable yet fierce Fairy-types, particularly cute dual-types like Dedenne and Ribombee, whose primary types give them an edge that other Pokémon don't have. Those Pokémon would definitely fit her style well.

4 Sailor Jupiter — Grass & Electric-Types

Sailor Jupiter with Pokemon Jolteon Meganium

As the princess of the largest planet in the Solar System, Sailor Jupiter draws her incomparable strength from plants and electric currents in the sky. Once transformed, she can summon lightning using her tiara and even create a hurricane of flower petals to confuse the enemy.

Both Grass-types like Meganium and Venusaur, and Electric-types like Electabuzz and Ampharos would make great companions for Sailor Jupiter, but none would be as perfect as a shiny Jolteon. Not only would it double her skills, but it would also match her color scheme flawlessly.

3 Sailor Mars — Fire, Flying & Psychic-Types

Sailor Mars with Pokemon Moltres and Charizard

Sailor Mars is one of the Sailor Scouts with the most varied style and skill set, which includes wielding fire and using it in her main attacks like Fire Soul and Mars Flame Sniper. As a shrine maiden, she also has psychic powers that allow her to have premonitions and get rid of the evil spirits plaguing Tokyo.

Aside from Fire-types, Sailor Mars would also enjoy training Flying-types like Charizard and Moltres, who could easily mirror her crows, Phobos and Deimos. Furthermore, she could also take on the rare Fire/Psychic-types like Delphox and Victini.

2 Sailor Mercury — Water & Ice-Types

Sailor Mercury Pokemon Azumarill and Lapras

The brains of the team, Sailor Mercury uses her heightened intellect and water-based abilities in different ways than the similarly gifted Sailor Neptune. She can evaporate water to create mist with Mercury Aqua Mist and freeze it to create blocks of ice of varying sizes with Shine Aqua Illusion.

Given her powers, training Water and Ice-types would be a breeze for Sailor Mercury. Pokémon like Lapras, Frosmoth, and Azumarill would make excellent additions to her team.

1 Sailor Moon — Fairy-Type

Sailor Moon with Pokemon Clefable Sylveon Togetic

Despite having a rocky start when she first discovered her powers, Sailor Moon has grown into the capable, if a little clumsy, leader of the Sailor Scouts. With the help of the Legendary Silver Crystal and other weapons like the Moon Stick and the Kaleidomoon Scope, she can easily destroy the power-hungry evils wreaking havoc on Earth.

Always committed to fighting for Love and Justice, Sailor Moon would guide a mighty, and equally adorable, party of Fairy-type Pokémon into victory.  She would train Pokémon like Clefairy, which evolves into Clefable when exposed to the Moon Stone, and other powerful Fairy-types like Togetic and popular Eeveelution, Sylveon.
