In the final season of the classic Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon anime, a new evil unleashes an old evil: Queen Nehalennia. The leader of the Dead Moon is freed so that she can resume her vengeance towards the White Moon Family.

After Nehalenna is dealt with, the Sailor Guardians encounter evil Sailor Guardians called the Animamates. They're part of the organization Shadow Galactica, and they are after true Star Seeds. With Mamoru studying abroad, Sailor Moon and the others have to rely on help from three new Guardians called the Sailor Starlights. The Sailor Wars have begun and only one side will win.

10 Episode 167: The Flower of Nightmares Scatters: The Queen of Darkness Returns (8.4)

Usagi and the girls begin high school just as Chibi-Usa decides to return to Crystal Tokyo. As she prepares to travel back home to the future, an unknown force unleashes Queen Nehalennia. The queen of darkness was last seen returning to her mirror imprisonment after the Dead Moon was defeated. When given the chance to take revenge on Sailor Moon and her friends, Nehalennia takes it.

Meanwhile, Haruka and Michiru are attacked by Nehalennia's monsters. An old ally, one they presumed was dead, suddenly appears with a big surprise in tow.

9 Episode 198: Dying Stars: Uranus and Neptune's Last Stand (8.5)

With Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune working for Galaxia, Sailor Moon is left confused and scared. She has the Starlights on her side, but are they enough to take down Galaxia?

The Starlights continue to protect Sailor Moon from Uranus and Neptune, who are ordered to seize all of their Star Seeds.

8 Episode 168: Saturn Awakens: The Ten Sailor Guardians Unite (8.5)

Under the Sailor Guardians' noses, Queen Nehalennia insidiously wreaks havoc on the city. The heroes don't even realize that Mamoru has been affected. While gathered at the Hikawa Shrine, discussing what's been happening, Usagi and her friends are ambushed by Nehalennia's monsters.

Elsewhere, Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna have become parents to young Hotaru, who is going through hyper growth spurts. She has a vision of what's to come if they don't stop the darkness that surrounds the White Moon.

7 Episode 187: The Shining Power of a Star: Chibi-Chibi's Transformation (8.5)

Usagi is challenged to a softball match by the school's best player. Of course, the classmate also happens to be Sailor Aluminum Seiren's next target. As the softball game takes a break due to the weather, Usagi spots her classmate in trouble. She transforms, unaware that Aluminum Seiren is nearby.

Now knowing Usagi is Sailor Moon and that she possesses a true Star Seed, Aluminum Seiren goes after her. Chibi-Chibi intervenes and powers up Sailor Moon's Eternal Tiare, thus allowing her to put an end to Aluminum Seiren's threat.

6 Episode 170: Night of Destiny: The Sailor Guardians’ Ordeals (8.5)

Queen Nehalennia has taken Mamoru, who is under her control, to her faraway kingdom. Usagi follows her without her friends, but the nine other Sailor Guardians aren't far behind. During their trip, the Sailor Guardians are split up. Sailor Mercury finds herself paired up with Sailor Uranus. As they fight Nehalennia, Mercury realizes the two have very different approaches to battle.

In the meantime, Usagi continues to search for Mamoru, and Sailor Mars and Sailor Neptune endure one of Queen Nehalennia's traps as well.

5 Episode 172: Moon Power of Love: The Nightmare Ends (8.6)

As Usagi struggles to reach Queen Nehalennia's palace, Sailor Chibi-Moon and Sailor Saturn confront the queen of darkness. Chibi-Moon is fading away as a consequence of Mamoru falling deeper and deeper under Queen Nehalennia's spell. Sailor Saturn is given no choice but to use her ultimate attack to kill the enemy.

In the end, it's love that saves the day. Usagi accesses Queen Nehalennia's innermost wish and makes it come true.

4 Episode 200: Usagi's Love: The Moonlight Illuminates the Galaxy (8.6)

Sailor Moon's Legendary Silver Crystal was destroyed by Sailor Galaxia, but Sailor Chibi-Chibi-Moon restores it. Usagi, now as Princess Serenity, has to defeat Sailor Galaxia, who has truly succumbed to the dark power of Chaos. To stop Galaxia, though, Princess Serenity must free Galaxia from Chaos' control.

The fate of the world hangs in the balance in the series finale. If Usagi cannot stop Chaos, everything will be over.

3 Episode 173: Farewells and Encounters: the Transitioning Stars of Destiny (8.7)

Usagi tearfully says goodbye to Mamoru, who is temporarily leaving to study abroad. She already had to send Chibi-Usa off after they stopped Queen Nehalennia again. Losing two of the most important people in her life, Usagi is understandably sad.

Meanwhile, the city is overcome with Three Lights fever. A trio of pop idols has won over the hearts of everyone, including the Sailor Guardians. Well, except for Usagi, who is clueless to their popularity or existence. This is when Shadow Galactica begins its mission to find true Star Seeds. A Sailor Animamate named Sailor Iron Mouse attacks a civilian, who then turns into a phage monster. As Sailor Moon looks for a way to change the victim back into a human, three new Sailor Guardians called the Sailor Starlights show up.

2 Episode 196: Countdown to Destruction: The Sailor Guardians' Last Battle (8.8)

Sailor Galaxia has killed the Sailor Starlights' princess, Kakyū. Enraged, the Starlights go off to fight the enemy on their own. Sailor Moon and her team follow while the Outers go in on their own. As the city feels the effects of Galaxia's reign, the inside of Galaxy TV becomes a hell for the Sailor Guardians.

The Sailor Starlights are outmatched by Sailor Galaxia. When the three are about to be killed, Sailors Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus intervene. Sailor Moon's friends sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Finally, Sailor Galaxia tells Usagi the whereabouts of Mamoru, who she hasn't heard from since he left for America.

1 Episode 194: Crusade for the Galaxy: Legend of the Sailor Wars (8.9)

Princess Kakyū has been found, but the Outer Guardians are as suspicious of her as they are of the Sailor Starlights. Regardless, Kakyū does not want there to be any in-fighting as they have more important things to deal with: the ongoing Sailor Wars.

Knowing Usagi is a target because of her Silver Crystal, Rei and the others go to great lengths to protect her. This makes Usagi feel weak, which she proves she isn't when she fights Sailor Tin Nyanko on her own. After, everyone learns of the burden that Usagi has been carrying all by herself this whole time.
