Sailor Moon is one of anime's most iconic superheroines, but that doesn't mean she's the epitome of perfection. At the end of the day, even after saving the world from whatever evil is threatening it, Usagi can find herself giving in to the same vices.

She's only human, an idea that is made abundantly clear throughout the series, as she keeps finding herself making the same mistakes over and over again. She might be a heroine who at least tries to become mature as the story goes on, but some habits are just hard to break. And as a character who has appeared in different incarnations over the years, sometimes different issues prop up with different series.

10 She's Late For Everything

Usagi Manga

Usagi literally starts off the series being late for school. While this is to be expected for an anime heroine, she eventually turns it into an art form, being late for school and meetings all the time.

To her credit, this is sometimes a good thing, as she seldom ends up finding herself at the right time and place by accident, like when she accidentally came across a bunch of kids bullying a cat with a bandage on her forehead, which started the series.

9 She's Incredibly Lazy

Lazy Usagi

Usagi can be lazy and irresponsible at times, which usually shows when she gets tests back, often getting abysmally low grades in school. She certainly isn't stupid, as she can sometimes figure out a quick way to stop a villain, but she rarely puts her mind to good use.

On a related note, she can often be easily distracted by something frivolous. which can keep her from paying attention when the villains are attacking. There have been times when Luna has had to nearly threaten her just to get her act together and get involved in a fight.

8 She Falls For Traps

No matter what type of scheme the villains have cooked up to steal energy or accomplish some similar goal, whether it's a princess-themed finishing school or a new cake shop, Usagi is one of the first people to end up falling for it. After a time, Usagi really should have become more suspicious about the traps all around her.

This proved deadly during the fight against Queen Beryl and the Dark Kingdom, as the villains were partially able to pick off her friends as she was too distracted to notice or too influenced by traps and illusions.

7 She Keeps Forgetting Her Weapons & Powers

Disguise Pen Sailor Moon

Thanks to Luna, Usagi has a magic pen that lets her transform into anything she wants. Rather than keep such a useful item close by, she forgets about it after just a few tries. And it's forgotten even when it could have been useful.

And that's just the start of her items that suddenly lose relevance after a few uses. While some of her items have the excuse of eventually breaking, this isn't always the case. Even her tiara could have been used as a weapon much more often than it ended up being used.

6 She's A Little Too Into The Power-Ups

Sailor Moon Crisis

Especially in the anime, Usagi tends to be the Senshi who keeps getting new transformations and powers. While this is sometimes a necessity and isn't always in her control, she tends to rely on power-ups when her original powers would have worked just fine, if not better.

A good example of this is her Eternal transformation in Sailor Stars. Not only did the wings she develop during the transformation prove to be something of a hindrance — with at least one villain being able to subdue her by pinning them to a wall — but she also lost her tiara, which once caused her to substitute a pizza for it during a fight.

5 She Keeps Getting Drunk At Parties

In the '90s anime, Usagi had the bad habit of getting drunk in public at least twice: at the party for Princess D and a party for international students, possibly risking international relations for Japan and possibly the Ivanovich Kingdom. To her credit, both times seemed to be an accident, with her mistaking alcohol for juice.

In the manga, however, she really seems to have become a social drinker, holding a toast at a Christmas party and getting envious of men buying Rei drinks while swimming.

4 She Keeps Running From Fights

Sailor Moon Hiding

Often when the villain first reveals itself, Usagi's first reaction is to run away, even if she's already transformed into Sailor Moon. She seems to be forgetting that she's the only one who is usually able to take on the villains and save the day.

It gets to a point where she seems to forget that even breaking down and crying would be more practical, since her hair decorations literally weaponize her crying. And this is made clear in the first story arc. Even in cases where there is the excuse that she was bidding her time for other Senshi to arrive, this usually ignores the fact that she is the one to give the final blow.

3 She Relies On Her Friends Too Much

Usagi starts her series as a solo heroine and this becomes especially profound in the anime where she spends a few episodes before Sailor Mercury is introduced. She gets more powers and attacks but also appears to mature into a strong and clever heroine.

Once her other friends get introduced, what maturity she gained during this time seems to lessen and lessen. While it's sometimes excused that her friends need to weaken an enemy for her to vanquish or heal it, Usagi seems to have forgotten that she has quite a few attacks up her sleeve.

2 She Ignores Possible Allies

Nephrite saying his final goodbye to Naru in Sailor Moon.

This series is filled with sympathetic villains who find redemption in death, like Nephrite and Prince Safir. At times, it seems that the Sailor Senshi could have saved them if they recognized something was going on.

This even continued well into the final story arc, in the anime at least, as the Sailor Animates were hinted to have been good Sailor Senshi that were corrupted by Galaxia, as Sailor Moon was able to partially heal Sailor Tin Nyanko. However, they all end up dead just as the possibility of redeeming them was revealed. The fact that Usagi seems to forget that she can revive the dead just adds to the issue.

1 She Keeps Destroying Worlds

Sailor Moon Moon Kingdom

This one ties into the live-action show, where, instead of simply being the protector of the human race, her alter-ego, Princess Serenity, is a destructive force. In this version of events, it was she who destroyed the Moon Kingdom out of her despair of the loss of Prince Endymion.

And when Usagi awakens as the princess, she becomes just as much of a threat to the Earth as she was to the Moon, threatening to wipe out all life if the planet is pushed too far. Towards the end of the series, she eventually makes good on her threat.
