Preorders are open for a pendant based on Sailor Moon Eternal's Moon Kaleidoscope.

The new replica was revealed on by Japanese mail order company IEI and offers a miniaturized version of the Moon Kaleidoscopes that Usagi and Chibiusa receive within the Dark Carnival in the 2021 Sailor Moon Eternal movies. Larger scale replicas of the kaleidoscope were previously released, but this new version of the prop is small enough to be worn as a necklace and is made from handcrafted glass, sterling silver plated with a 24k gold finish, and genuine Swarovski crystals. Despite its smaller size, it is still a functional kaleidoscope, which was created by award-winning designer and craftsman Koji Yamani. The pendant itself ships an equally premium package, which features the Sailor Moon Eternal logo embroidered on both the exterior and interior of its lid.

The replica is now available for pre-order from IEI's website and is scheduled to begin shipping out sometime in March. Unfortunately, award-winning designers and premium materials don't come cheap, so the pendant will cost Sailor Moon fans a 32,780 yen, or about $300 USD. A limited edition, 1:1 scale version of the kaleidoscope was previously released by IEI in 2021, which is now being sold by resellers on online auction sites for over $1,000 USD.

Sailor Moon Eternal is a two-part movie series that were both released in 2021. Both parts of the movie were directed by Chiaki Kon, who previously directed the third season of Sailor Moon Crystal, and has also worked on a variety of acclaimed shojo anime adaptations, including Nodame Cantabile and Chihayafuru. The movie also featured the return of character designer Kazuki Tadano, who worked on the original 1990s Sailor Moon anime adaptation. Series creator Naoko Takeuchi supervised the movies' production, which was handled by Studio Deen (Fruits Basket) and Toei Animation (One Piece). The movies are based on the Dream arc of the original manga and pick up from the events of the Sailor Moon Crystal anime series' third season. The two movies are meant to serve as a fourth season of the show, and were released internationally as a streaming exclusive through Netflix.

Fans who can't pick up the Moon Kaleidoscope still have plenty more Sailor Moon merchandise to look forward to this year, as the series is planning a number of new releases to mark the 30th anniversary of the premiere of the original Sailor Moon anime. The franchise has partnered with UNIQLO and Citizen to produce new apparel and watches based on the influential series, and also recently revealed a new collaboration with Sanrio, which pairs up each Sailor Scout with one of the company's mascots for a new line or merchandise.
