The first official poster for the Sailor Moon Eternal movie recently debuted on Twitter.The Sailor Moon Eternal poster features Sailor Moon alongside the villainous Queen Nehelenia. Sailor Moon Eternal is a two-part movie event, which adapts the "Dream Arc"  of the original Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon manga by Naoko Takeuchi. That arc featured the Sailor Scouts battling the Dead Moon Circus, as Nehelenia sought to rule the Earth. It will also introduce the Sailor Scouts' ally Helios, who guards the Golden Crystal that gives Tuxedo Mask his powers. Sailor Moon Eternal will take the place of a fourth season of the Sailor Moon Crystal anime series.

Chiaki Kon, who directed Season 3 of Sailor Moon Crystal, will return to direct Sailor Moon Eternal. Also returning is Kazuko Tadano, who handled the character design for the original 1990 anime series of Sailor Moon. Both films are jointly produced by Toei Animation and Studio DEEN.

Starring Kotono Mitsuishi as Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon, Hisako Kanemoto as Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury, Rina Satou as Rei Hino/Sailor Mars, Ami Koshimizu as Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter, Shizuka Itou as Minako Aino/Sailor Venus, and Misato Fukuen as Chibi-Usa/Sailor Chibi Moon, Sailor Moon Eternal will premiere in theaters in Japan on Jan. 8, 2021. No international release date has been given for the film.
