A Sailor Moon fan has recreated Usagi's famous transformation sequence in a unique and eye-catching cosplay.

The photo of this cosplay was posted on Reddit by the user AbraCatrena and features them in a blue and pink bodysuit that is designed to match the colors shown when Usagi transforms. The background used in this photo is of a starry night sky, which mimics the backdrop used at the end of the sequence, where Usagi does her iconic pose in front of a large crescent moon. This cosplay was done to celebrate Usagi Tsukino's birthday within the series, which falls on June 30. This also happens to be the birthday of Usagi's daughter, Chibi-Usa. In addition to Usagi, AbraCatrena has also done some impressive cosplay of Pearl from Steven Universe.

This has been a big year for Sailor Moon, as it marks the 30th anniversary of the Sailor Moon anime, which premiered in Japan in March 1992. The Sailor Moon manga, which was created by Naoko Takeuchi, debuted in 1991 in Kodansha's monthly Nakayoshi magazine. As part of an effort to commemorate the franchise's anniversary, a Sailor Moon exhibition called the "Sailor Moon Museum" will be held at Roppongi Museum in Tokyo, Japan from July 1 to Dec. 30. This exhibition will be divided into three different "phases," each dedicated to one part of Sailor Moon's Story, and include around 600 pieces of artwork.

Fans may also be interested to learn that the Sailor Moon Museum will also include a café featuring many Sailor Moon-themed menu items. One of these items, the "In the Name of the Moon, I'll Punish You! Omurice," is a crescent moon-shaped Japanese-style omelette named after Usagi's famous catchphrase. Another item, called the "Sailor Senshi 5 Rainbow Parfait," is a sweet dessert featuring five distinct layers, each one a signature color of one of the main five Sailor Scouts. Visitors can also order lattes at this cafe that feature Sailor Scouts' catchphrases, and buy sugar cookies for take-out that are shaped like the Cosmic Heart Compact, Usagi's iconic transformation brooch.

The most recent Sailor Moon anime, Sailor Moon Crystal, premiered in July 2014 and ran for three seasons. Unlike the original 1990s anime, which took some liberties with the manga's plot, Crystal was a more strict adaptation of Sailor Moon's main three story arcs. These are Dark Kingdom, Black Moon, and Death Busters, respectively. A two-part finale film to the series, Sailor Moon Cosmos, is slated to debut sometime next summer.

All three seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal are available on Crunchyroll.
