Sailor Moon is one of the most iconic anime of all time, having inspired musicals, a live-action show, and even a web-series reboot: Sailor Moon Crystal. Needless to say, its iconic cast of characters has inspired fans to write stories, make art, and even cosplay as some of their favorite characters.
Sailor Mercury is the second Sailor Scout introduced after Sailor Moon herself and she is the alter-ego of Ami Mizuno, a Japanese schoolgirl. Even as a schoolgirl, Ami shouldn't be underestimated, she's a genius with an IQ of 300. With power over water, especially ice and snow, she also has access to special technology, like her special visor and mini computer. All in all, there are many facets to her character: she's a princess, a warrior, and, in the live-action show, even an agent of the Dark Kingdom!
It's safe to say that she has quite a few fans, especially ones who like to dress like her. Today, we're looking at some amazing Sailor Mercury cosplayers. And remember, because a picture contains a thousand words, spoilers abound.
10 Princess Mercury Cosplay
Although she was part of Princess Serenity's court, during the Silver Millenium, Sailor Mercury was the princess of her planet. Although we didn't see much of this time in the series, the image of the Scouts in their princess gowns, especially Mercury, have given a lot of inspiration to fans. Instagram user afoxnamedcharity posted this image where Princess Mercury can be seen holding a mysterious blue rose, adding that, "Princess Mercury represents logic, intellect, and remaining calm on the field of battle, but her inner artist comes alive when she feels the love of her friends!" Later in the post, she is seen with a few of the other princesses.
She also credited nocapescosplay for the dress and amiephotos for the photo, also listing other friends who have dressed as the Princess Senshi, crediting mew21_cosplay for coming up with the group.
9 Princess Mercury and Serenity Cosplay
Of course, the Sailor Scouts always viewed their most important role as being Princess Serenity's guardians and protectors. And even during the Silver Millenium, Mercury was involved with making sure that the moon princess kept up to date with her studies...if only the Earth and Prince Endymion weren't so distracting to her. It would seem that old habits die hard.

8 Dark Mercury and Beryl Cosplay
Sailor Mercury isn't always such a good girl. During the live-action series, taking advantage of Ami's loneliness, the villainous Kunzite manages to transform her into the evil Dark Mercury. Despite now being a member of the Dark Kingdom, she shows no respect or loyalty to Kunzite or even Queen Beryl. Eventually, Ami's love for her friends broke the spell and she returned to normal.

7 Dark Mercury Cosplay
Another cosplayer that portrayed Dark Mercury can be seen hanging out in the Scout's element...a pool of water. Hopefully, she didn't actually get the costume wet (unless she paid extra to get it water-resistant.)

6 Sailor Mercury Attack Cosplay
Sailor Mercury has gone through a lot of phases, but she is first and foremost a Sailor Scout, dedicated to protecting the Earth from danger. Here, we have a cosplayer as Sailor Mercury, commanding her element, right about the save the day. Also, you have to love the dedication in that the cosplayer even made sure that her eyebrows matched Sailor Mercury's iconic hair.
Instagram user jessdcos posted the image, saying she wanted to highlight "a strong woman character" for Women's Day, and who could be a better heroine than a Sailor Scout? 5 Sailor Mercury Goggles Cosplay
Not only is Ami a genius, she was a real techno-wiz (even back in the '90s!) As mentioned, as Sailor Mercury, she had access to some special technology as a Scout, like her special mini-computer and her visor, also known as the Mercury Goggles. This especially came in handy when helping the other Scouts save the day. In the manga, she even had a few "technology-themed" attacks, like "Hyperspatial Sphere Generate." She even went to a Computer School in the DiC dub!

4 Sailor Mercury Bubbles Blast Cosplay
One of Sailor Mercury's most iconic attacks involves shooting bubbles at the enemy. This cosplayer, even when dressed as Eternal Sailor Mercury, hasn't forgotten her roots as a Sailor Scout and shows off her first attack.

3 Silver Millenium Sailor Mercury Cosplay
Instagram user grainne_sea had a lot to say about the Sailor Moon fandom with her post, "I'm forever thankful for being dragged into the Sailor Moon fandom. I've been met with nothing but kindness and support and it's super uplifting." With her long cape, the costume seems to be based on what Mercury wore during the Silver Millenium in the anime, as seen in the "Tuxedo Mirage" ending song.
Many people were credited in helping the piece come together: adorables for taking the photo, miccostumes for the dress base, ardawigs for the wig, and ohtori_art for the design.
2 Sailor Mercury Aqua Attack Cosplay
Instagram user momokurumicosplay shared this photo of Sailor Mercury commanding water in the middle of an attack. With ribbons of water nearly dancing around her, it's reminiscent of Sailor Mercury's "Mercury Aqua Mirage" attack.

1 Crystal Moonlight Sailor Mercury Cosplay
The Instagram group crystal.moonlight.group is made up of Sailor Moon cosplayers, so it's only natural they'd feature Sailor Mercury on their team. In this photo, the way the water dances around her is similar to Mercury's famous attack, "Shine Aqua Illusion," and the way she crosses her arms is similar to her bubble attack.
