Mizuno Ami, a.k.a. Sailor Mercury, is a shy and intelligent girl who's always had a hard time making friends. Being an academic genius set Ami apart from her classmates who don't know much about her and often believed she thought herself better than them. Instead of proving them wrong, Ami chose to isolate herself and focus on studying and reading—but that was before she crossed path with the eccentric, loud, and cheerful Usagi who revealed Ami's true identity as a Sailor Guardian.

Ami's clothing style mostly runs along the lines of preppy and sophisticated. She wears a lot of midi-dresses and skirts which reflects her goodness by giving her a soft and reserved look. Her go-to color is, unsurprisingly, blue, which matches her peculiar hair color. There are a lot of great outfits worth stealing in her collection, particularly for the summertime!

10 Midi-skirt and Hairband

High waisted midi-skirts are both super comfortable and very flattering on pretty much everybody, and, of course, Ami is no exception. Something that can be noted about Sailor Moon is that the characters often re-wear outfits, and it's the case for these two outfits that are essentially the exact same save for the colors. Everything is the same, down to the dotted headband, and only the colors were switched up—but who cares when both outfits look so good?

The headband gives the look a cool 70s vibe that works really well with the long skirt and simple top!

9 Fringe and Pompoms

Continuing with the 70s theme with this next outfit that is totally unique, to the say the least. The fringe, big sleeves, and heavy fabric combined with the striped leggings remind us of the bohemian style of the 70s, and we love it!

Whether Ami is wearing a double-layered dress with giant sleeves, some sort of poncho or just a matching scarf, we will never know, but we can agree to say that this outfit looks both incredibly comfortable and super stylish! The perfect combo for those cold winter days when you wish you could have stayed in bed but still have to go out.

8 Classic Pastel Blue Dress

Unlike her fellow Sailor Guardians, Ami has a very peculiar hair color which undoubtedly narrowed the designer's color choices for her outfits. Although Ami is seen a few times wearing bright colors such as yellow or red, she mostly wears various shades of blue with white details that bring out both her hair and her blue eyes.

Longer dresses have been making a come back for a couple of years now for two reasons: there's easy to wear and comfortable and overall just look awesome. It's time to get inspired by some of Ami's classic summer dresses and embrace those pastel colors and midi-dresses!

7 Sailor Mercury, Queen of Ice

Feeling like this dress looks familiar? That's because it is!

This next outfit is a black and white version of Ami's 70s yellow fringe dress. The two outfits are extremely similar, although we've noticed that the poncho/scarf was left out in this version. This monochrome version of her previous outfit gives off a much more adult and serious vibe while remaining unique. Both versions of this outfit are awesome, and it's hard to choose between the two. One thing is for sure: this pompom dress more than deserves to be on this list!

6 A Timeless Button-Down Shirt With A Twist

One can never go wrong with a simple white button-down shirt. It literally goes with everything and is super versatile.

One of Ami's take on this classic piece of clothing is to pair it with a solid color mini-skirt and add a brooch for personality. This same brooch is seen on a couple of different outfits like shown on the images above.  It's a nice way to incorporate a statement piece without it being another boring necklace. We always love it on a simple white turtleneck. And, to finish the look, a vest and a jacket that matches the brooch.

5 The Power Of Stripes

If there's one pattern that one can never go wrong with, it's horizontal stripes. Ami has worn her share of striped shirts throughout the series, and here are a few of the outfits we would a 100% add to our wardrobe.

All those outfits are pretty simple and easy to put together, all you need is a striped shirt of any style you like and solid, a pleated mini-skirt—preferably in the same color palette as your top—and that's it. What takes Ami's outfits from "cute" to "trendy" are the accessories she chose: a headband—another trend that's been coming back—or a scarf makes the whole outfit 10 times better!

4 Blue, White, and Red

At the beginning of the series, Ami was very shy and reserved. She did her best not to stand out too much, and that desire to blend in was reflected a lot in her fashion choices which were very plain. However, as the story progressed, she gained more and more confidence, and, although she remained a quiet character, she learned to take more risks, starting with more bold fashion choices. Needless to say, we're here for it. This red miniskirt goes surprisingly well with the electric blue vest, and we love the brown ankle boots and chocker!

3 The 90s Strike Again

The combination of three or more colors in one outfit was common in the 90s, and this next outfit is high in colors, to say the least. Hard to think that so many colors work together, but they do, and that's the beauty of this outfit. Fashion trends come and go, and it might be time to bring back this super colorful and layered look! The long skirt and vest give off a little Hobbit vibe we can totally get behind!

It's also funny to see that once again, this outfit was used in another episode. Remember the outfit with the blue brooch? Same turtleneck, same brooch, same vest, same jacket, just some different colors.

2 Pastel Suit

This next outfit has some serious Queen of England vibes, and, although this look may not be everyone's cup of tea, there's something super cute about it. Although this outfit would be hard to wear as a casual outfit, it'd still be a good piece to own for some fancy tea party.

If we're being honest, it's entirely possible that the only reason why this outfit made it to the list is that Ami looks so adorable in it. Who else could pull off a pastel blue suit with a ruffled collar and a beret if not sweet, gentle Mizuno Ami?

1 The Grown-up Outfit

This last outfit is one of the most flattering Ami has worn, and it's definitely one that we would steal today, although it is more on the business side of 'Business Casual." The bright red pencil skirt is a bold choice, but, paired with some neutral colors, it makes the outfit super classy. The white, cropped jacket is a more casual version of a blazer, and we love the collar of the black top. Simple but elegant.

We can once again appreciate the effort to coordinate the clothes and accessories; the secret to a great outfit lies in the details!
