Deadpool 3 star Ryan Reynolds is reportedly hoping Channing Tatum will make a cameo.

According to a report by reputable scooper DanielRPK, the Wade Wilson actor is pushing for Tatum to appear in the Merc with the Mouth's third blockbuster. The capacity to which Tatum could appear is currently unknown, but it's rumored that the Magic Mike star may feature as a character other than Gambit, a role to which he's been attached for several years. Neither Reynolds nor Marvel Studios have responded to these rumors.

Many fans may be excited about Tatum's possible appearance in a Marvel film but the actor has noted that his previous experiences have soured him on the franchise. "Once Gambit went away, I was so traumatized," Tatum confessed. "I shut off my Marvel machine. I haven't been able to see any of the movies. I loved that character. It was just too sad. It was like losing a friend because I was so ready to play him." The actor also explained that his take Remy LeBeau would have been "flamboyant," and the film itself would have featured a tone similar to that of the original Deadpool movie.

Deadpool 3's Growing Cast

While it remains to be seen whether Deadpool 3 will include the kinetic energy-manipulating mutant, one member of the X-Men who is confirmed to make an appearance is Wolverine. With Hugh Jackman reprising arguably his most iconic role, Reynolds has openly discussed his excitement at the idea of Logan and Wade Wilson teaming up on the big screen. "Ultimately, I get to work with some of my closest friends in the world and that doesn’t happen every day working in this business," Reynolds enthused.

Tatum isn't the only person who's rumored to make an appearance in Deadpool 3. Reports have swirled that the movie may also see Owen Wilson reprise his role as Time Variance Authority operative Agent Mobius. Other whispers insist Wade Wilson will embark upon a multiversal quest to other franchises, including the 2005 Fantastic Four movie.

Details regarding Deadpool 3's story remain scarce but Rob Liefeld, who created the character for Marvel, pitched a particularly gruesome narrative for the duo. "I mean, they both have a healing factor. I can see a healing factor one-off, where the two just decapitate each other and regrow limbs, right? Or at the very least Wolverine slices generous pieces of Deadpool off."

Deadpool 3 is slated to hit theaters on Nov. 8, 2024.
