The Merc with the Mouth once wanted to play the fastest man alive.

While promoting Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut at Comic-Con International in San Diego over the weekend, star Ryan Reynolds was asked if there was another superhero he would want to play.

"I would say Wolverine, but God, I would be terrible." admitted Reynolds during a Q&A panel in Hall H this past Saturday. "Honestly, I wanted to be the Flash, the Wally West version, but I think all of those ships have sailed."

The actor is no stranger to playing multiple superheroes, having first played Marvel vampire hunter Hannibal King in 2004's Blade: Trinity. After portraying a much different version of Deadpool in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Reynolds moved over to the DC Universe in 2011 as the titular character of Green Lantern. The latter two films were poorly received with the Deadpool sequel poking fun at both films during its mid-credits sequence.

While Reynolds may have conceded that he would be a poor fit for Wolverine, the extended cut features an interesting scene with the Merc with a Mouth approaching the character in an alternate take during a mid-credits scene.

Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, and Julian Dennison as Russell. The film is out on digital HD on August 7 and on Blu-Ray on August 21.
