Ryan Reynolds still hopes Deadpool will get to share the big screen with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, someday.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the Deadpool 2 star spoke about how he wants nothing more than for a teamup movie with Jackman's iconic character.

Although Logan died in the acclaimed 2017 film, Reynolds said the character is perfectly fine for his franchie's timeline. Because Deadpool 2 takes place years before Logan, Wolverine is "running around out there with a little bushy chest and his little sharpy, sharpy claws."

His interest in Jackman's Wolverine is well noted, as 2016's Deadpool featured many gags about how handsome Jackman is, and the two appeared together in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The biggest hurdle in this potential crossover is whether Jackman is actually interested in returning to the role. Before Logan's release, the actor insisted it would he his final appearance as Wolverine, unless there was a chance to play him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Reynolds acknowledged that convincing Jackman would be "near-impossible, but there’s no human being I love more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and equally so as a friend ... whenever I see him, I’m like, ‘Come on, man. Just one more. Come on. We’ll do it together.'"

Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable and Julian Dennison as Russell. The film hits theaters on May 18.
