"Deadpool" hasn't even been in theaters for a week yet, but it's already busted quite a few box office records, including the biggest opening weekend in February box office history. It should come as no surprise, then, that a sequel to the massively successful film is already underway.

"We are on a script, we are well into a script," star Ryan Reynolds said during a podcast with Empire Magazine.

The sequel film has reportedly been greenlit by 20th Century Fox, and returning screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are working on a script. Director Tim Miller is not yet signed for a sequel, but this earlier earlier report says Fox hopes to keep the original creative team together.

Directed by Tim Miller, "Deadpool" stars Ryan Reynolds, T.J. Miller, Morena Baccarin and Gina Carano. The film is now in theaters.
