With no follow-up comments about the photo, fans are left to debate its context. As Ryan Reynolds is known for joking around, the image could mean almost anything. The actor's portrayal of the Merc with a Mouth is so highly regarded that many just naturally associate him with it.

Thus far, little is known about Deadpool 3, the next film in the superhero series. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, creators on Bob's Burgers at Fox, are set to work on the script. However, no release date or filming updates have been announced. After Disney's 2019 purchase of Fox's movie and TV assets, the Deadpool franchise has become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Reynolds has a few other highly anticipated projects in the works that aren't part of the MCU. A new trailer was released for The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, a sequel to the 2017 action film. Reynolds' Michael Bryce will continue his action-packed escapades while managing his dangerous protectees, Salma Hayek and Samuel L. Jackson.

The actor's other summer release will be Free Guy, the comedy thriller in which a bank teller discovers that he's a NPC in an open-world game. The film also stars Jodie Comer and Taika Waititi. Reynolds tentatively announced Free Guy's premiere date which is currently scheduled for August.

Written by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, Deadpool 3 stars Ryan Reynolds. The film has yet to receive a release date.
