According to Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool is completely appropriate for children to watch, but he draws the line at Green Lantern.

"Oh, yeah, you're fine to watch Deadpool. No problem," the actor told kid reporters Lyla and Luna for the Kid Gloves web series. However, Reynolds had different thoughts about his 2011 film, Green Lantern. "No, do not watch that," he said. "You are not old enough for that. If you're, like, roughly late 40s, you can watch Green Lantern. You'll be ready for it then."

Reynolds has never shied away from poking fun at his stint as Hal Jordan in the critically maligned DC film, Green Lantern, even using his Deadpool films as a vehicle to make some seriously meta-jokes about it. In a 2020 interview, Reynolds clarified that all of his jokes are "more about just laughing at myself, not laughing at other people, necessarily, that are involved in a project, but laughing at myself and my own contribution to that failure or however you want to characterize it."

While the actor is likely to keep the Green Lantern jokes going, he did admit in 2021 that the superhero film wasn't as bad as he initially thought it was. "While it's not perfect, it ain't a tragedy," he noted.

Reynolds will reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool in Deadpool 3, for which Marvel Studios has tapped Shawn Levy as the director. Levy and Reynolds have worked together on two films so far, including 2021's Free Guy and the recently released Netflix film, The Adam Project. The director has also expressed interest in being the "lucky son of a bitch" to tackle the next Deadpool film.

Reynolds has been vague about the progress of the upcoming threequel, though he did promise fans earlier this year that they could expect more detailed information about Deadpool 3 coming soon. "I'll say this about [Deadpool 3] is I'll have a batch of updates on that sooner rather than later, I hope," he said. "So I'll be able to get into stuff about Deadpool a little bit more clearly and definitively down the road."

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also confirmed that Deadpool 3 has a spot on the Marvel Cinematic Universe release schedule and is currently in the works with Reynolds actively involved in the production. "The script is in the works," he said, "and [Reynolds] is working very hard on it with our writers as we speak."

Deadpool 3 does not yet have an official release date.
