Actor Ryan Reynolds went to great lengths for Deadpool to remain faithful to the comic book character. That included spending $10,000 on the Bea Arthur shirt he wore in the 2016 film.On social media, a fan brought up the fact that "Ryan Reynolds secretly paid $10,000 for permission to wear a t-shirt with Bea Arthur's face on it in the movie 'Deadpool.' In the comics, Deadpool has a love for Arthur and 'The Golden Girls.'" Reynolds himself chimed in, explaining, "And per Bea's family, the money went to her favourite charity."RELATED: Deadpool 3’s Biggest Disney Shift Won't Be Violence But Something Way More Provocative

Considering the unprecedented financial success that Deadpool enjoyed at the box office upon released, grossing $783.1 million worldwide, Reynold's expense may not seem like a lot. However, it is worth noting that the film was completed on a budget of just $58 million, meaning the shirt alone might have cost almost a sixth of the film's production budget.

The success of the film spawned a sequel that was given a considerably higher budget. Deadpool 2 was released in 2018, completed on a budget $110 million. The film followed the titular Merc with a Mouth as he attempted to recover from the loss of his one and only Vanessa and set a young mutant, Firefist, on the right path. The film was well-received upon release and grossed $785 million at the worldwide box office. Shortly after its release, Disney acquired 20th Century Fox and all its properties, meaning the future of the hugely successful Deadpool franchise was suddenly thrown into uncertainty.

However, over the course of the last year, both Reynolds and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige have confirmed that Deadpool will return, this time as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A third instalment in the Deadpool franchise is currently in the works, but details are scarce. Reynolds has indicated that production for Deadpool 3 may begin some time in 2022, but an exact start date has not yet been announced. Furthermore, Feige confirmed that the film will -- like its predecessors -- be R-rated, though there are no plans for other films with such ratings beyond the antihero's film.

When it comes to some of the other staples of the Deadpool films, such as Blind Al and now Cable and Domino, Feige and Reynolds have been silent. As has actor Josh Brolin, who previously played Thanos in the MCU. Domino actor Zazie Beets, however, previously stated that she has not been asked to return for Deadpool 3 but will see what happens.
