Ryan Reynolds will produce a horror film based on a short story first posted to Reddit.

The film will be based on The Patient Who Nearly Drove Me Out of Medicine, a supernatural horror novella by Jasper DeWitt. The story was first published on Reddit NoSleep, a thread where writers can share their best scary stories with one another. The Patient Who Nearly Drove Me Out of Medicine is focused on an optimistic young doctor who takes on a particularly troubling case that almost drives him out of the profession.

Variety reports that the project was bought by Twentieth Century Fox and New Regency after a particularly difficult bidding war before bringing the film to Reynolds and his production company, Maximum Effort. Reynolds will also work with Vertigo Entertainment to produce the film. Reynolds is currently only on board as a producer, although that could change.
