Ryan Reynolds Wishes 'Ex-Girlfriend' Betty White a Happy 97th Birthday

For Betty White's birthday, Ryan Reynolds wanted to do more than thank her for being a friend. The Deadpool 2 actor tweeted a special happy birthday to the Golden Girls actor, who celebrated her 97th birthday yesterday, and referred to her as his ex-girlfriend.

Reynolds included a photo of the two actors holding hands from their appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2010.

Reynolds and White worked together on 2009's The Proposal and reportedly have been great friends ever since. His Deadpool character Wade Wilson is a known fan of Bea Arthur, whom Betty White worked with on The Golden Girls. Reynolds shares Deadpool's appreciation for the series, from which White is the last surviving actor. White herself reviewed Deadpool in 2016 and gave it "Four Golden Girls."

She is known for her award winning roles on the Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls and her guest appearances and roles on Password, Match Game, The $25,000 Pyramid, Just Men, Hot in Cleveland, Boston Legal, Mama's Family, Saturday Night Live. Her past credits include Lake Placid, Ponyo, The Proposal and more.

Ryan Reynolds is a Canadian-American actor, comedian, film producer and screenwriter, best known for his portrayal of the Marvel character Deadpool.  He will also star in the upcoming film Detective Pikachu. Directed by Rob Letterman, Detective Pikachu stars Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton and Ken Watanabe. The film opens in theaters on May 10.
