English actress Ruth Wilson is in talks to play the female lead in Disney's Lone Ranger, Deadline reports.
She would join Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in the Gore Verbinski-directed film, based on the long-running radio serial turned popular television series about the Texas Ranger left for dead and the Comanche who saves him and joins in his crusade for justice. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the adaptation, which is set for release on Dec. 21, 2012.
Wilson, who starred BBC One's 2006 Jane Eyre miniseries, also appeared in the remake of The Prisoner and the crime drama Luther. According to Deadline, she will play a character named Rebecca in Lone Ranger, edging out such actresses as Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life) and Abbie Cornish (Limitless) for the role.
