WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame, in theaters now.

After months of speculation about Chris Evans' future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Endgame closed on an older Captain America, who'd travelled back in time to be with Peggy Carter, passing his shield to Sam Wilson/Falcon. Don't hold out hope for Evans to reprise his role any time soon.

In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Joe and Anthony Russo were asked if Evans would ever play the character again. “Chris is a very emotional person," they said. "Maybe it’s evident if you follow him on Twitter, because he does put his heart into what he says. But I feel like he has to close the door on things, and emotionally move on to the next thing. I think for now he’s emotionally moved on.”

“There are no plans,” they concluded.

These remarks are, of course, not necessarily indicative of all possible futures, as Evans might reprise the role at some point down the line. However, it's unclear at this time whether that will happen or if we've really seen the last of the Steve Rogers iteration of Captain America.
