Anthony Mackie, who has played Falcon throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently discussed Marvel's lack of diversity in its films, an assessment which Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo seemed to agree with.

Mackie specifically mentioned how non-diverse the crew of Marvel films tended to be, which Joe Russo responded to with, "I think we can always all do better at diversity, constantly in this business, and in every facet of every industry — so he's not wrong at all." He added that there needs to be more effort in diversifying both the cast and crew on Marvel films.

Anthony Russo then added a few comments, praising Mackie, and expressing respect from both himself and Joe, "He is not only an amazing actor, but he's an amazing person, and we've loved our collaboration with him."

Joe and Anthony Russo worked with Mackie on several Marvel Studios films, including 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 2016's Captain America: Civil War, 2018's Avengers: Infinity War and 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Mackie is set to reprise his role as Falcon in the upcoming Marvel TV series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame and will show Wilson teaming up with Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The series arrives on Disney+ in August.
