According to The Hollywood Reporter, a deal has yet to be made, but if Crowe does indeed agree to join the pic, he'll be acting alongside Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabella Wallis and Jake Johnson on the London set.

THR also notes that Tom Hardy and Javier Bardem were also in talks for the role, before they both dropped out.

The character first appeared in the novella "The Strange Tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," by Robert Louis Stevenson, the writer of "Treasure Island."
