Runaways Season 2 Trailer Introduces New Powers, More Characters

Just under a month before the season premiere, Hulu has released a full trailer for Runaways Season 2 and, from the looks of it, the season will incorporate more elements from the original comic book series.

As the trailer opens, the team is on the run -- literally. As they sprint, Nico tells Gertrude, who's pushing a shopping cart with Old Lace inside, to hurry. In response, Gertrude angrily yells back, "Yeah, you're not the one pushing the dinosaur in the shopping cart!"

The trailer then cuts to the Pride as they attempt to track down their children. The subsequent scenes feature more of what's to come this season, such as Nico declaring that the kids need to learn how to master their powers as a team, Alex asking Karolina if she's keeping a secret from the rest of the team and a full-on battle between the Runaways and the Pride, with what appears to be a spaceship in the background.

Towards the end, Nico asks Karolina how their parents could be such monsters, with Karolina telling Nico that they can "fix the world [the Pride] broke." What follows are more action scenes, the debut of comic villain Topher, a kiss between Nico and Karolina in her solar form and a party held by the team. The trailer closes with Nico saying there's something wrong with her, before she screams with rage into her staff as mysterious black energy emanates from it. Notably, the purple markings around her eyes are reminiscent of Doctor Strange's Kaecilius.

The returning cast of Marvel’s Runaways includes Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta, Angel Parker, Ryan Sans, Annie Wersching, Kip Pardue, Ever Carradine, James Marsters, Brigid Brannagh, Kevin Weisman, Brittany Ishibashi and James Yaegashi. Season 2 of the Hulu original series will begin streaming on December 21.
