The recently-released second season of Marvel's Runaways is the first project falling under the Marvel Cinematic Universe banner to be released following the death of Marvel Comics icon Stan Lee. In turn, the Hulu original series was sure to take the time to pay tribute to the departed legend.
While Lee did not make a cameo in Runaways Season 2 like he did in Season 1, the last scene in the final episode fades to black and displays touching message that simply reads, "In loving memory of Stan Lee" before the credits roll.
A very similar tribute appeared at the end of the film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which honored Lee alongside his Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko. Additionally, Marvel Comics has begun featuring dedications to Lee on the covers and interior pages of most of its new comics.
However, this Runaways tribute will likely be the first of many commemorative messages paying homage to the legendary creator to appear in new MCU films and television seasons.
Marvel’s Runaways is a Hulu original series, with all 13 episodes of Season 2 currently streaming. Executive producers for the series are Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, and the returning cast includes Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta, Angel Parker, Ryan Sans, Annie Wersching, Kip Pardue, Ever Carradine, James Marsters, Brigid Brannagh, Kevin Weisman, Brittany Ishibashi and James Yaegashi.
